In the video I mention the tennis ball pressure is at 12 PSI above atmospheric pressure. Here is my resource: van.physics.illinois.edu/QA/listing.php?id=955&t=tennis-ball-facts. I realize other sources have stated the pressure to be 14-15 PSI above atmospheric pressure, that's why I pressurized my container to 14-15 PSI.

Already have a few old pressure cookers at home that we don't use. Will be interesting to replace the escape valve with the bike valve and see if I can use that.

I am a beginner when it comes to making anything not from Ikea or Legos, could you describe what you mean by seating the valve at 1:50? Is there a known technique or hardware needed in seating an air-tight valve or is using some pliers and elbow grease good enough?
@MakeItorBreakItNow5 ай бұрын
a couple things you might try here: don't make the hole too big or to small. You can use hand sanitzer to help pull the valve through the hole. The great thing about sanitizer is most everyone has some and it evaporates/dries completely after a while. You'll know when you've seated the valve because the rings on both sides of the hole will look complete, nothing wedged in the hole.

Maybe it's better to put a psi gauche? And using a bigger box to put like 20 balls ?

that's a good idea, but another hole makes for another place of potential failure. I'm working on a new design using a stainless steal growler. Stay tuned...

It Woukd be useful to see a set up with a long PVC pipe able to hold a dozen balls. For people who practice with a few dozen balls at a time this could really help reduce waste and cost.
@jasonchusfo888 Жыл бұрын
i looked for PVC pipe and cement and they are rated for 10 PSI. Not sure where to get 27.6 PSI that wont blow out the PVC.
@MakeItorBreakItNow Жыл бұрын
I've thought about the PVC pipe approach. You'd need a release valve and the a large pipe end with lots of threads, but its doable.

Better with just a bigger container made for pressure, like a 20lt water bottle

Hi, so were you able to keep balls pressurised or re-pressurise flat balls? One of the commercial models listed it uses 30PSI and will re-pressurise them in 3 days to 3 weeks. I am hoping to find a homemade model that will work to re-pressurise flat balls. Thanks very much.
@MakeItorBreakItNow10 ай бұрын
You can keep this version pressurized, depending on the seal for a month or two. I have another version I'm working on that uses a stainless steel container that will likely work better. Stay tuned for this...
@scottnagletennis10 ай бұрын
Thank you. Will it add pressure to flat balls? Or just keep new ones under pressure? Thank you.@@MakeItorBreakItNow
@gazou19827 ай бұрын
@@scottnagletennis If balls are really flat, you'll have to "pre-pressurize" them to an intermediate pressure (like 10 psi for example). If you don't, your balls will collapse inside the container (from the sound of it I assume this is what's happening) :) FWIW, I'm using a beer keg which works like a charm.
@scottnagletennis7 ай бұрын
@@gazou1982 Thank you for that. Do you have a video or info on your beer keg? I was considering using the mini kegs like the Heineken draught keg. I am curious how you made yours. ??

What I dont understand is the air we breathe is pressurized at 14.7psi. So when you say "pressurize the container to 12psi", do you mean on top of the atmospheric pressurize totaling ~27psi? Or are you vacuuming air out of it to decrease the pressure?
@MakeItorBreakItNow2 жыл бұрын
berfava, 12 psi above atmospheric pressure. Most earthly pumps I'm aware of zero out at 14.7psi. Interesting point thoug. Thanks.
