I started building models when I was 8 or 9 years old, and even then I was obsessed with getting the details as close to correct as I could; but as this was in the late 70's, one couldn't just log into amazon and order a fairly decent airbrush kit for $50, or find the parts upgrade kits with all the metal pieces and better decals, etc., or log into youtube and watch tons of videos like this one showing all the cool tips and tricks that the pros are using... I gave up modeling in my mid-teens when my attention switched to electric guitars (which I now build and repair for a living), but during covid my interest in modeling was renewed, and I've been watching a ton of videos such as this one. The quality of workmanship, the attention to detail, and the end results are just fantastic, and I learn so much each time! Thanks for going thru the trouble to document these processes, it really helps me, and I'm sure many, many others like me, get the results we're looking for, and for me, totally reinvigorating my interest in this excellent hobby! Cheers!

Building this bike now it's my first bike just crazy how everything needs painting really before the kits built! Don't think I could get used to that! I'm always Building sub sections for my other builds but this is a while new level of painting then building sub section's I bought 2 kits anyway got the CBR Fireblade to do next Didn't like the way the exhaust went together having to redo weld seams after filled and sanded the joins on top pipe and redone the welds on frame with archers resin weldbeads so they pop when a wash goes over them! I'm an armour modeller normally so the bike will have slight dust n road muck on it like it's just come off the track!

thank you for this really great video, it was interesting to watch. one question - I see that you use Tamiya green glue right on the painted parts. Does it create good joint between elements? :/
@Makeitscale2 жыл бұрын
It is omitted from editing. Since the adhesive melts only the paint, it is recommended to keep rubbing, melt the paint, melt the joint, and attach it.

Hi, I've been watching a couple of your build videos, very nice and inspiring, thank you for them. I'm ordering this model and some others although they are on backorder... Other than the fork set, did you purchase any other additional detail up parts? I just retired January 7th and am looking to trying something new(never built a motorcycle). I do love the attention to detail required and the overall challenge. Are the PAINTS you used called out somewhere? Thank you, really appreciate it. Steve Probelski

For the metallic LP paints, did you have to use a fast thinner for them? I've heard that if you use a levelling thinner it dries slowly and causes the metallic pigments to settle and you lose the nice metallic finish. Not sure if it's true but it seems to make sense.
@Makeitscale2 жыл бұрын
Fast drying brings out the feeling of iron. However, it is regrettable that the color changes when the finishing agent is applied.

I thought Mr Levelling Thinner was unbeatable for Tamiya paints, but then I used Tamiya’s Lacquer Thinner With Retarder and it’s actually better than MLT in my opinion. I’d recommend it for all Tamiya acrylics and lacquers. Everyone talks about milk consistency with 50/50 ratios etc but it’s just not true. Mix AT LEAST 2 parts Tamiya Thinner with Retarder to one part Tamiya acrylic or lacquer (metallics too) and prepared to be amazed!!!

Paint the iron with loctite and plastic with Tamya cement, and when painted on the joint, melt it with a Tamya cement brush and paste it.
