The ink tank system appears to be much better than the cartridge system kzbin.infoUgkxciSwynMJ7PnUvvx11rewiu-yFBkZTl53 and a lot cheaper to run. The machine was easy to set up. A small point but I thought they'd be a USB cable included to help with the set up but there was none. I've been using it now for a few weeks and it seems like a good product and superior to my previous printers which were all troublesome HP machines.

This is by far the best laser cutter video I’ve seen.. I’ve been researching for weeks and was really overwhelmed. Thank you for the comprehensive reviews and including so many options for us to further review. I especially appreciate that you included a variety of price ranges as well as ease of usage - or lack there of. This is exactly what I was looking for, thank you for taking the time to put this together!

Me and my wife are thinking to start a business with a laser printer. The idea is to start doing anything that comes to mind that we might think people would love now. On that note, which laser printer would you go for and what else would say we should have in mind such as opening an etsy account? Or is there another website you'd recommend we open an account with? Truly appreciate your feedback in this new journey of ours and I hope to keep you posted along the way. Thank you for such great content.

I have 34 years in the laser Business... I have seen them come and go... the likes of Epilog and Universal.... In 1991 I laser engraved the Weatherby Lazermark for them in Santa Ana CA on a 75-watt LMI ( 145K investment) then Epilog comes along and pitches the summit a 45K Boat Anchor if it was a racehorse it would still be out there trying to finish a mile race! You have to understand what Lasers can do and do not do. I hope I can purchase something again soon now that even a 100-watt cutter and engraver are less than 25K! Our Laser Shop also did acrylic we had a local shop that had at the time a 600-watt flatbed Mitsubishi and it would cut 1/2 inch acrylic like butter! Miss those days!

In my research, on paper the muse 3d seemed better than glowforge, especially with the rotary height extender. But the fine print only offers 30 day warranty vs glowforge 1 year. I contacted sales to confirm this. They didn't respond back. Big red flag that lead me to other complaints about service and power supplies blow often. 30 day warranty on new gear for that cash is awful.

was a great video to stumble upon after trying to find some honest answers on engraving as a total beginner! I diddd have a specific question, you mentioned briefly "logo on cutting board" which is my intent for one, however the unit i was looking at was kind of a box that had everything inside of it. the diode was 3w, but no one ever says "it can engrave all of these, dont get it if you use it on these". I want it to be able to do walnut, but everything always just says wood, and there are so many species of wood of different hardness, i cannot for the life of me find a simple yes. In your opinion, 3w diode able to surface engrave (maybe 1/8") walnut, and other hardwoods.

Ortur can certainly cut. But it requires multiple passes. I got the snapmaker, and it does a great job cutting, mainly because it has a Z-axis. You do have to calibrate the Z-axis height for whatever material you use.

@@makeorbreakshop Two additional notes for when you try this out... 1- I was getting really frustrated with cutting 2.5mm plywood... UNTIL I finally went and checked their forums and found the link at the bottom of this comment. The cutting setting they list for plywood was just right and gave me perfect cuts from then on. I did find that their plywood engraving setting was not good (100% power too much, 50% power just right), so I left a comment at the bottom for my recommended setting. 2- It's sort of a software labeling bug. In the software, when you use the engraving for a picture, and on the Dot (high quality) setting. They show the "Dwell Time" units as "mm/min". This is incorrect, and it is really "ms". support.snapmaker.com/hc/en-us/articles/360019025954

Is there a way to cut thru a plexi box, but only thru the laser side and not thru the other? Something you can put inside the box? I would assume just put a block of wood that is thick enough to stop the laser from going all the way thru? What is it for? Making vents for an enclosure.

Nice video. Wish you focused more on the higher end lasers but not really your target audience and not something you have in the shop. I wouldn't put boss anywhere near epilog. For general use CO2 lasers I would do a list like this: - K40 + upgrades - 50W ebay/ali chinese - 80W ebay/ai chinese - All in ones or what you call kickstarter lasers (including the more expensive dremel brand one) - Branded chinese lasers with local support (boss, thunder, aeon etc) - Finally top tier RF lasers (epilog, trotec, ULS etc) There's plenty of specific machines that fall outside those categories. Like aeon having an 'all in one' style series and thunder laser having RF source lasers.

Could use some advice. Looking at the glowforge and K40. But wouldnt mind to be directed towards more industrial versions. I got a spare room, probably 2x1m left. Ability to place air assist and extract fumes through a window nearby. It's in an appartement, quite populated so wouldnt be cutting overnight haha. Planning on cutting acrylic/pmma 3mm thick plates i want to feed atleast 50x50cm plates for ease. But also want to engrave/scorch leather and woodies(multipex/plywood most likely) Maybe engrave aluminium but I realise there are specialised laser(lenses) for that particular operation. Got max 5k to spend. Looking for a ROI within a year. (Things I sell will be around €5/€25 a product, around 5000mm distance in lines per product) It's mainly hobby orientated. I want to comfortably be out for work during the day while it is running. Ofcourse I have a contact in the appartement that could keep an eye on things and unplug the field if necessary. What would you guys recommend based on my input? What might I have forgot to mention that could be detrimental for decision making?

Nice Video and has a lot of information in it. I want to get into a Laser Engraver but of course there is so much info to digest and make decisions on. Because of the COVID virus we have now lost the only place I would have gone to look at and ask questions about it. That is FRY's Electronics. I was going to build a newer computer with newer components. I like to buy locally and now there is no second choice place to go. The whole printing and engraving environment is changing so fast I have been deliberately slow to get involved and jump in. Would you be able to make suggestions on where to focus if I mentioned some of the criteria involved? 1) Engrave small objects like in the size of Keys, Knife handles and up to the size of 6 inches square for just a little more versatility; 2) Because of size - price should be small due to the versatility and usefulness is reduced (comparatively); 3) Precision - due to the size of the engravings they will be examined closely. 4) Engrave or etch but NOT cut through. 5) Small because of my needs and can't have it take up a lot of room. 6) Engrave any metals that will dis-color noticeably. All these are valid reasons that must be evaluated together. If you can please give me a few suggestions. Because I don't know what the prices may be, please consider price to be of the lesser requirement. I want a good one that will do the job. Thanks for your help.

I am still really lost. I want a laser cutter to make dollhouse miniatures in 1:12 scale at the largest and 1:144 scale at the smallest. I have a Cricut Maker cutting machine and it doesn't cut precisely and small enough which is why I'm looking for a laser cutter instead. The most common materials I would cut would be around 2mm or less, matboard to thin wood. I'm 33 but I find technology to be a little annoying. It's not my favorite thing to figure out software and do upgrades. I don't think I'm even capable. So I need something user friendly that I can use with SVG files.
