You're the go-to guy online who really seems to know his stuff about laser engravers/cutters-could you do a review on the LaserPecker LX1? My wife has a flower farm and sells from a cart in front of our house and at local events. She's always needing signage. The LX1 has a module into which you can insert a chalk marker-that could be awesome for us. I also think there will be times when I want to engrave text on wood for signage. Just want to make sure I'm not missing a cheaper alternative that could do the job just as well.

We had machines in the hundreds of thousands of dollars range, even a few into a million dollar range. ESI was a brand, from China I believe, that we had that did UV lasers. Another was the Excellon Cobra which had both UV and CO2 in 1 machine so you could cut/skive/drill with one and do a finish pass with the other. Just got my XTool D1 Pro 10w and Lightburn is a headache to use. I’ll set the dimensions of the work and frame it and everything is good. But when I try to engrave the diode starts half an inch off of the material and the image comes out about an inch smaller than the dimensions on the screen. So, I’m a woman and I have a business where I do wood work but I am very much not electronic savvy. I have a scroll saw, table saw, miter saw, router, dremel, jig saw/ basically everything but a CNC machine. What work we do is resin art and wood work for home decor. What would be the best user friendly but cuts what we need? I’m wanting more of a wood cutter and not an engraver. Yes? That would be a plus, but I’m wanting to cut words/fonts out of wood and put it on other items to paint or resin. (ie- welcome sign). Clearly I don’t need 7k+ type machine so what would you suggest for someone that does my line of work at home?

I'm interested in working with lasers. One question I wished you had addressed is consumables. Do the diodes have a limited lifespan? How about the CO2 tubes as well? I know you mentioned upgrading the diodes so I'm assuming that's a DYI project and if your diode is 'dead' you can order a replacement. How about replacing the CO2 tube? Are there any other parts that may wear out? Thanks.
@reynoirjr Жыл бұрын
Not sure if you ever found your answer but a 60w co2 fiber laser tube is going to give you roughly 1500 hrs of use before it might need replacing, an 80w should give you roughly 6,000 hours of use

Love these reviews, but would like to have your opinion on a laser that is portable and fast. I am looking for a laser to put in my craft show trailer. My main pourpose would be for engraving anodized aluminum minimalist wallets, flasks and tumblers. I currently have an XTool D1. I was going to use it, but it takes it around 10 minutes to do a wallet and I want this time frame brought down. So, I am thinking a fiber may be the best choice....but I also want to keep it sub-$2000 if possible. It will be powered using a gas powered generator and will be in an enclosed area (meaining out of spectator viewing range - but still well ventilated). Thoughts?
