I’m currently building my own fixture table. I just slightly under cut the holes and used the same reamer you have. Only difference, I ream from the bottom of the cut and use cutting fluid. Always love your ideas. Keep up the awesome work!!! Remember, your the one who made me build my own table. LOL

That's awesome! Ur the one that put in the hours to build ur table, I just made the videos 😁👍 I probably should use a little cutting fluid. Happy making my friend!

Did you have success reaming an entire table? I’m trying to decide between the cost of laser and the time/money of reaming so I’d love to know how yours went. Thanks.

dude, its like you knew I have been pondering this! Great video, great explanations, great work! thanks for sharing!!

Wow thanks man! I've been thinking about it too and finally bit the bullet and got a reamer bit the right size.

Just what I needed to know what to do with my powerplasma cut holes.

Great video... Great explanation... But I think the solution you're looking for is to keep your settings where you had them and instead of blowing out the bottom of the hole slow the speed down and do an overcut of .150.

Could you measure the exact hole size that reamer cuts? i have a 5/8" thick table and that reamer maybe good for cleaning out the holes. i drilled all my holes with an annular cutter. my table is based on the fireball tool design with the heavy frame holding the top on adjustable studs.

Mayby look at an HMT impact reamer? there designed for this stuff

I have an odd size table request… I’ve been in the market for one for a while and have access to a plasma table at my uncles fab shop…. But I want a 40”x80” table with the side holes. I’ve been up in the air on doing 3/8 or 1/2 table. What are your thoughts on that. Also what are the measurements for the holes are they 2x2. I originally thought about using a mag drill but if the reamer bit worked I’d do that no problem.

So how did you solve tab and slots problem? Cos there is slight bevel as you said on plasma and how much clearance did you do?

Try like a double cut where is goes around twice. It cleans up the bottom better than once

Are the DXF files for the leg & fixturing blocks going to be available for purchase ? Keep up the GREAT WORK !!!
@MakerTable5 жыл бұрын
The leg plate that bolts to the bottom of the table can definitely be sold as a DXF. I'm still kicking around the best way to sell the fixtures but there will def be some DXF files available, possibly in a package deal. I just put free shipping on all the tables and leg kits. I'm still working on the design on the fixtures/jigs. I'll keep you guys posted as that moves along. I'm really excited about some of this stuff!

I'll be truly amazed if that reamer lasts through one of those (multi holed) blocks of yours. The first few thou of the surface of plasma cut material is very hard and is hell on cutting tools except maybe carbide.

Hello what is the name of the manufacturer of the reamer? Greetings from Switzerland

Have you had any customers use your files with a 1/2"table surface? I manage a fab shop and really want to change out some or all of our tables to this design. However some of our jobs require a thick surface. Curious to a reply on this but I'll be purchasing the 3x5 file for my home shop regardless

Thanks for the support! I can put together a 1/2" version for you if your interested in chatting more shoot me an email adam@makertable.com and we can go over the details.

Noise goes into cnc controller. You have to star ground every shielded wires.

Sorry meant to mention do not use a lead out Make sure your lead in obviously starts from the center of the hole and you'll be golden

I just finished cutting my 4x8 that I got from you. Do you think the reamer would hold up to all of the holes or would I be better off turning down my inserta pins on the lathe? Looks like that reamer is about 80 bucks.

Brand of reamer bit?
@seafurymike5 жыл бұрын
You may have achieved better hole alignment with a drill press. It looked like you cocked the reamer over a tad when drilling. Of course a mill with an end mill would get it right each time. I like your fixtures. thanks for sharing. keep churning stuff out, it interests me atleast

Did I hear you are using fine cut consumables on a pm65 for these tables? I purchased a file from you and I haven’t cut .250” with fine cuts before.
@MakerTable5 жыл бұрын
No fine cuts, just regular consumables. You can play w the kerf settings in CAM, I explain it thoroughly in the "Plasma Cutting a Laser Table" vid

The problem with this is the plate is not thick enough all fixturing tables use thicker metal

No hate here but please stop walking with and spinning the camera around, it makes most people sick. Your tripod footage is great.

Thanks for the heads up! That never even crossed my mind. I'm always experimenting with new ways to keep things moving and interesting. I'll cut out the spinning shots LOL
