A nice repair Ted, you got your customer working again during the heat over there, now the heat is coming our way starting 1st September it's the start of our hot Australian summer ☹ Au

Nice vid. I'm going on a AC fix for the 1st time in 3yrs, figure I'll get back into it. Took time off and moved. Going to record it too. Got to the site and pressures were 128/436, R-22 System. Could hear the overcharge in it. Goodman unit. Asked about history on it and was told a handyman came out and gave it "some gas". Think he may have mixed gasses. Most likely dropped 410 in it. Evap coil is plugged with bio and growth, so pulling that and cleaning it up. Gonna be fun. I enjoy the trade. Always have. Economy proof.

How much is R22 going for these days? I only do HVAC on my own stuff. Retired. I bought a jug of R22 at a Garage Sale for $15 a few weeks ago. The jug weighs 26 pound so I guess around 20 pounds of Refrigerant? Several Neighbors on my street have R22 Air Conditioners so I may be able to help them out. Guy next door has a 1987 Trane that still runs strong.

Ehh wait for it to clog up and replace then 🤣🤣🤣 That unit needs to be replaced. Just get it running for a few more months it should be fine.. since it was pumping atmosphere the correct way would be to remove compressor and change the oil and the filter dryer. But I agree it's not long for this world. Patch it up. Tell customer to start saving their pennies and get ready for at 5-7k bill later on. Mr Cook shouldn't be terribly expensive on a new package unit. Especially if he can sell them a nice cheap goodman 🤣🤣🤣🤣😉😉😉😉 if he couldn't talk them into a new trane yet I bet theyll be more amenable when he quotes them a new compressor, filter dryer, contactor and capacitor for half the price of a new unit 😬😬

You once again did the right thing, when a part was not available right away, my hope is your fix was temporary until the correct part comes in so at least they have relief. But that unit is fairly old. Poor carrier they seem to have in recent years gone way down hill in quality such a shame for American companies. My mother had 2 excellent carrier units from 1992 but she stupidly chose to replace them in 2010 with far inferior units. Buy you guessed it American home shield who then Dropped her. Because she abused it with them. But I hate those warranty companies anyway. Ohh and she had a good thermopride oil furnace for the downstairs that got replaced with an inferior unit also. When the thermopride did not need replacing. With a smaller btu unit. Ohh and Ted you confirmed something I long thought from your old video on an old trane from 1988 concerning American home shield where you stated in 1988 2 ton may have been the current size. For old r 22 units but by today's standards what American home shields refusal to pay for the correct size unit for today's standards is ridiculous as I think you said that house needed a 4 ton which sounds right. I know because I dealing with that nonsense at my condo because an hvac company charged 10 grand to put in a junky crappy 18,000 btu unit fir cooling and not a true split system in wall unit. The old one was an Armstrong one from 1990 and for heating it might have said 17,500 and cooling 24,000 Btus and had r 22 but for today's standards and square footage the correct replacement would be a 36,000 btu unit. And the exact replacement for that old unit would be a magic pac 3 ton split system 14 seer unit. Since I don't think trane makes one. But That was never done. So I have taken matters into my own hands and figured out what I had to purchase based off of the dumb hoa rules from my condo community which limits me to in wall units mini splits or side dschstge units since I can only mount on a wall. Anyway I wish more people listened to you when you offer them the correct options. And yes I am a subscriber. But just understand not everyone can go with trane options or conventional split system options with a top mounted condenser.

Equalizer line. One of the three that operates the txv. Superheat bulb sensor to the diaphragm,spring pressure and that equalizer tube monitoring the evap press.
@kamrenkong
@kamrenkong Жыл бұрын
That’s not an bleed off tube . The equalizer is helping the txv’s opening force so you won’t have high superheats on your coil due to pressure drop across evaporator

Hey ted sorry to comment again but I just discovered trane does make a, side discharge heat pump called the xv 19 but I have heard there were issues with them maybe you can do some install videos on them or test them at your shop and post some vidoes on them for us all I have found on you tube are really short not very detailed vidoes for them. Since side discharge is the direction hvac is taking and for me personally I would like to know more about some of these newer side discharge units so in 5 years I can have more options. Between the different hvac companies. Again it's because of guys like you that I can learn from.

added failure/leak points, mineral oil didn't much care about moisture, it would somewhat still vaporize and flow with most gas types, including air. now days, moisture and wrong/no gas = guaranteed death. yes, nothing is perfect and anything ran for long without proper charge will succumb to death 😜

Entry level carrier still don't have pressure switches 😢 also still have capacitors that will go out within 5 years for sure. Furnace doors with the 3 screws don't seal the blower compartment and leaks air... but coils aren't leaking much so I like that over all the rest of issues. 2 leaking coils in 10 years for me installing Carrier and they were bad right away not in a few years like would indicate bad manufacturing of coils aka Lennox 😅 also 1 compressor. Couple fan motors. #hundreds of Installs not thousands but this is below a half percent.# In conclusion I will keep installing Carrier for now 😀
