Force of habit 2:48 melting the ends when working with polyester and nylon threads lol. Great video as always enjoyable. Thanks

That’s really nice. I’m actually making myself a journal cover right now, so you gave me some cool ideas. I see that you’re left handed, I am also. I’m thinking about making my journal cover left handed, but I haven’t decided yet because I’m so use to notebooks being right handed.
@MAKESUPPLYLEATHER2 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Left handed covers would be a great niche idea I never thought of that. Too used to being abused in a right-handers world haha.

Perfect timing! I was looking for an A5 journal cover pattern. Even better that it’s made to fit the brand of journals on Amazon that I’ve had my eye on.
@MAKESUPPLYLEATHER2 жыл бұрын
Awesome! Yeah I tried to "average" the best selling Amazon journal sizes for fit.

WOW! I have this beautiful but THICK 8/9oz water buffalo I'm wondering if that would be took thick for this project. I am thinking for the inside pockets it would definitely be too thick

Can I use leather that is 2.8-3.0mm for this?
@SyTheSoundman2 жыл бұрын
This is really lovely. Thanks for sharing. I have a question if I may? I would like to use hard back journals so is this design possible with those?
@MAKESUPPLYLEATHER2 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I did not try one but Im thinking it should work unless the cover is extremely thick. I need to get some hardcovers for next notebook project.

What exactly were you doing with that big piece of glass? (9:06)
@MAKESUPPLYLEATHER2 жыл бұрын
The linen thread has a "round" profile that doesnt lay flat when you are pulling the stitches. I used the glass burnishers to go over the stitch lines and flatten down the thread for uniformity. Usually do this with a finishing hammer but it goes faster with the glass.

OLD LEATHER SMITH here. Very Nice, easy 2 understand 4 beginners. Suggestion, Bees Wax on all punches, goes into and comes out of the Leather easier, in my opinion the snaps used will wear out before the item they R installed in. GOD'S BLESSINGS ✝️⚾️🙃

Would you please start putting the gauge of the leather for each project at the beginning of the videos? I'm new to leathercraft, and almost no one says anything about the leather---what type, what gauge, etc. they don't even put it on the patterns they sell. What's up with that? Thank you.
@MAKESUPPLYLEATHER2 жыл бұрын
I will add to future videos. I write the thickness in the description below for all projects.

Nice! My thinking is, if you have to sew all the way around the outside, you might as well line it (kipskin, pigskin, etc.)
@MAKESUPPLYLEATHER2 жыл бұрын
True that. I wanted to but couldnt find a lining I liked in stock. Everything looked like it would clash with the color.
