I have the service warning although my battery is only at 22 cycles. It is a macbook air early 2014. Tried the SMC and about to try the battery calibration procedure. But apple website says that no calibration is necessary for macbook air. I don't know which one advice I should follow now. Any suggestion?

I noticed my service battery ONLY popped on and my battery started to get hot after Mac updated to Mojave. It says it's at 254 cycles, and I STILL don't understand what that means. I have a MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2016, Two Thunderbolt 3 ports) and it says its battery is meant to last 5 yrs and has 1000 cycles? the SMC didn't do anything, so I'm going to try your second method. I'm worried the update killed my battery. :(
@WonderzOfoZ6 жыл бұрын
FFKits exactly the same thing happened to my macbook. service battery appeared right after i updated to mojave. the battery cycle is on 430 and it supposed to be 1000. took it to the apple and there were many other people waiting for the same issue and apple is asking for £200 for the battery replacement, i believe this is their fault and should be free of charge. i’m very disappointed and will never use apple’s product again 😔

When my battery gets to 87 percent it just shuts off. I have to use the charging cord to start the computer again. If I try to start the computer without the cord that's when I see the low battery signal and the computer shuts down. I have 480 cycles on the battery which I didn't think is a lot. I tried your first suggestion and it didn't do anything. I'm going to clear my entire browsing history because this is something that worked for a viewer. After that I'll try your second suggestion. That's going to be a part of the day, but for the five hours I'll have something else to do anyway. Thanks for your suggestions and appreciate your time doing this.

I had a very similar issue on a 2020 Macbook Air M1 with 57 cycles that after a logic board replacement, I had the "Service Battery Recommended" and would not charge when on power adapter. It would remain at 1% and when unplugged, would die. I remember I had a USB-C Pro Drive (made by Satechi) and I connected it to the USB-C ports on the Macbook and connected the charger to that and it immediately started charging and "service battery" message went away. I allowed it to charge all the way to 100% and then unplugged it and has held a charge and will now charge when I connect the charger to its normal USB-C port.

It won't die, the battery is probably just slowing down because you've used it a lot. Mac batteries are supposed to retain up to 80% of their charge for 1000 cycles and after this you can still use them fine but they start to hold less and less charge, so if it starts becoming a problem you might have to get a new one

Thank you for your suggestions, however just one thing: when you do videos where you give people instruction, such music with the bombarding tempo is not helpful at all. Yes, it might work for you and some people but not for all. A less rhythmic relaxing music or no music at all (if you're not sure which one) may help better...to expect the right focus from all people... trust me!. Some people can't live without noise: they should ask themselves why and start appreciating simplicity, which makes things greater!
