Friday 5th March 2021 - was cancelled in BOP as suddenly as the civil defence tsunami warning sent people running to the hills. The warning was triggered for Northland and the Eastern Bay of Plenty after three quakes occurred the Kermadec Islands on Friday morning, including a magnitude 8.1, 7.1, and a 7.4 shake. Before then, everyday life began as normal for many. People were on their morning commute, school lunches were made and packed for children.
