I’m not ready to do a big declutter. I’m still learning what I like. For example, I think I don’t like something and then use it in a new way and love it. That’s why I appreciate your suggestion to only declutter when ready. It seems silly to declutter only to bring in more of the same.

I've been doing a lot of decluttering lately during my move, and it really did teach me a lot. I definitely learned while I'll never have a minimalist collection, I also don't love having an overwhelmingly huge collection. It was interesting to hear your thoughts too!

I go through big phases of being really into certain items in my collection, then moving onto others, then rediscovering old faves... As such, it's essential for me to go through my entire collection regularly just to remind myself of what's in there, pull out things I feel drawn to, chuck anything that's super old and/or gone off, and weed out anything that no longer interests me. Thanks for your advice about colours vs. formulas. It seems like an obvious thing to consider, but the clear way you put it just inspired me to finally declutter a bunch of liquid lipsticks (mostly ABH) in beautiful colours that I will never wear because I hate the way they feel on my lips!

I love hearing you speak your language - so cool. I like the fact you know yourself and don't just jump on 'any' PR list; it shows that you are true to your brand which is *you*. With regards to not de-cluttering. Just because there may have been gazillion videos going around on the same topic doesn't mean you have to jump on the same train. I like that about you; it means you're unique.

Totally agree :) I love being on pr-lists for brands I love and use, but it makes no sense for a brand I just dont see myself using and/or loving :)

I got inspired by your declutter and finally decluttered my lipsticks which were way too excessive when I only wore a few favourites. Now my drawer is organised and I can easily pick out the colour I want and enjoy the formula too. Also showed me a gap that I need to fill!

I think this is one of my favorite chatty videos! I completely understand not wanting to do something until you are READY. You've done such am awesome job with curating your collection. I wish Flashback palette videos would be more of a thing, and I'd love to see what you've reviewed but havent used again!

It's great that you didn't bow to pressure and waited to declutter your collection until you were ready to do it. You can't be ruthless about it until you reach that point. It's really wonderful that the process has helped you become a more discerning shopper---that's the hard part. :)

Declutters are some of my favourite videos but they're no fun when the person doing them just isn't into it (like getting rid of stuff for the sake of getting rid of it). I like hearing people's justifications for keeping or getting rid of items. I really enjoyed yours for that reason. I look forward to watching your makeup journey continue!

I have quite some highlighters in funky colors. I hardly wear highlighters, so somehow they become huge eyeshadows and I try not to buy more hahaha. I do have some cream shadows and pens to use as their base. I'm not that much into glosses, but I do LOVE Iman's lip shimmers, they are quite moisturizing and non-glittery glitter on the lips (if that makes sense 😆😆😆). I wear my blue and green lipsticks to watch Netflix 😆😆

I'd be happy to watch any chatty video you want to put out. I get it about decluttering too. I pretty regularly decluttered my eyeshadows but I couldn't find the right head space for blush. When I first got in to buying blush I enjoyed loud, bright blush, and my style has since changed. I resisted decluttering them up until recently because I wasnt sure if it was due to season change and my tan skin v.s fair skin. I am happy I did recently do it, but I wouldnt have been happy to do it 6 months ago when I started thinking about it. I've been the same way with my clothes. I don't want to declutter my more business casual shirts that I dont wear as often because I may change jobs or have an event I want to look nice for and I'll have gotten rid of all my clothes. I'm still lukewarm to decluttering that area of my closet.

65K+ subscribers! Wow!! That is WAY more than there were when I signed up to watch you. Super-sized congratulations on that kind of growth! You are fantastic and it is definitely showing! Once I went through my stash, I realized I was buying based on the recommendation of people who didn't have the same skin type as I have and actually, that makes a difference. I could return a few but it's more of a joy for me to be able to share it with women/men who are coming up in their lives and need a few things that they normally would not be able to get their hands on right away. We all started somewhere and none of us got where we are by our own merits solely. Life is best lived with friends and loved ones holding our hands

I find it odd that other people would approach someone they have never met and tell them they need to get rid of some of their stuff. Just my opinion and no hate towards anyone who thinks otherwise. 😊

I know it may seem rude, but in retrospect it's probably the best advice and we're mostly not ready at the time that advice is given. I've been decluttering for months now but in drips and drabs. I think in my head I'm still not ready and too sentimental. As slow as it has been, I'm also learning to only buy items I really like and not just because it's on sale, which is my usual MO 😭

Sara Watts I agree with you. Unless they ask if they should do a declutter then I’m not going to give unsolicited advice that they need to declutter or should declutter. It’s not my collection so it’s not my place to make those comments. Just my opinion. No shade towards anyone who does ask for declutters, because I’m sure most of them are just trying to be helpful! ❤️

@@celestecelestial90 some may have good intentions but it comes off wrong, but some may not, idk. I do agree if a KZbinr is asking if they should do one to respond if you feel that you should or want to be in on the decision. That is when it is appropriate or even just asking if they are planning on doing a declutter is fine too because it isn't pushing your will onto someone who isn't wanting it. I'm not doing a declutter any time soon except for clothes and I may toss a few lip products, but that's where I stand right now. I decided to get off my no buy for the year and buy the things that I want that add to what I have, not be dubes or something like an eyeshadow palette that I think is pretty overall, but I don't like a few of the colors in it. I'm comfortable with that decision even though I feel some guilt, but I know a no buy really isn't me and I did need to do one for a little while for financial reasons and also to understand what I really want. I really felt I wanted more things being on the no buy instead of off it for something like this past month. Weird huh? Glad to have gone through what I have and figured out what I really wanted to add. I'm not saying I won't add some things from there next year or whatever, but I'm in a better frame of mind to really think about it.

Pink, purples and red eyeliner is the majority of my eyeliners. I have a sample size UD black liner, a couple golds/browns but 1 million versions of purples.

I am totally telling you the bperfect palette i was hesitant to buy also because i have so many colorful shaadows and dont really like big palettes but literally since buying it, it is one of the only palettes i reach for now! The formula is SO good! The colors are amazing i would LOVE to ser you review and do looks with it!

hey Angie , you may enjoy UD sheer cream lipsticks , they're gloss in a bullet ,really love them in their own or on top of matts .The nice thing about them when the gloss disappears, the tint stays. Or maybe you would like to try Dior gloss new ones just released .

You are so right. I bought the BPerfect palette and even though it is a freakin' awesome palette, I barely reach for it because of its size. Colourpop and single shadows are my go to.

I would love to hear what you've changed your mind on as you have learned more about behind the scenes of beauty KZbin. I'm not one who likes decluttering my makeup collection. As long as I have the space, I want to hold onto it. However, I'm starting a type of makeup basket (where I'm pulling things that I want to use a few times) and if I'm not enjoying the use of it or if I'm avoiding it, I'm starting to think that I should declutter those things.

I used to buy lip gloss thinking they were so pretty and I would love them, I don't love them, but occasionally I want a gloss, so I stopped buying, got rid of most and I left 5, once I finish those I will keep 2 in the future.

Very interesting! I just get overwhelmed with too many choices in all areas of my life. I like having a curated life...in clothes, makeup, jewelery, nail polish...even groceries. But I'm 60 and just figured this out! How different we all are because I love seeing other people's collections and so now watch with joy knowing I'm happier without it. 😉

I think you should do a larger palette five look. That way, you might get more looks from them. Five looks one palette is a lot but this way you could use more of a palette that you’d been avoiding. I still love my BH Cosmetics 28 pans (foils, foils 2, modern matte and smoky eye). I love them. You’ve inspired me to try all the colors. I’ve been mixing palettes just for fun.

I’m in the US so I don’t know if you can get L’Oreal where you are but L’Oreal carries a line of those sheer glossy lipsticks that you like that are pretty affordable!

You could do a project like Hannah Louise Poston's shop my stash! There you could for example get one of your less used face palettes and have it on your vanity for a month. This wouldn't work so well for eyeshadows for you though, because you test so much.. But anyway maybe think something like that so you don't "forget" products in your collection :) Thanks for a great video and insights!

You're spot on with the Stacey Marie palette Angie - I bought it & it's a beautiful, high quality palette, but I never reached for it because it's huge & it didn't fit in my drawer with my other palettes. I ended up selling it purely because it's too big for me to use regularly - i'm definitely not buying any more large palettes!

And what I would like to have is a real holo eyeshadow just like holo nail polishes, you know what I mean? The kind that sparkle like rainbow under sunlight? I realized I don't do many looks that require a colored lip. I also decided me and liquid lipstick isn't going to happen too often. I don't have dry lips at all, but some don't feel comfortable. So I did get rid of the majority. I'll work on what I have. But in all that, I realized I need gloss. I just don't like opaque, just sheer and glittery.

Wow to this eye look! Stunning! Also- you said you don't have grey and I feel silly, because your eyeshadow looks grey here. Do you ever do shop your stash? I would love to see you shop your stash, because you have a big stash! I shop my stash and it's like maybe 3 eyeshadow palettes. And usually the same face base (I wanna go crazy w the eyeshadow and usually keep my face the same because that's what I do). Yes to the video idea.

I went through my lipsticks recently. I had something ridiculous amount of the same rosy-brown shade. Did I really need upwards of 25 of those? No. It's wasteful, lol. I learned that is the only shade I wear - my natural lip color rosied up bit. Maybe three times a year I'll wear a red, but that's it. So I should stop buying other colors - especially paler nude shades and peach shades. I love them in the tube, but not on my face. I do the same thing with lip liners, but I didn't have as many of those. To use all my shadows and palettes, I've started planning my week by choosing two palettes or collections and putting them in front of my mirror. I gave myself a rule that I can't use the same palettes more than once in a rotation. Hopefully that will either get me to use all my stuff or show me which ones I am not that enthusiastic about and can let go.

Suggestion here: any makeup you get in pr you don't like either donate it, give to friends/family or put it in a giveaway and then you won't have to worry about it being mixed in with your collection.

Very true that you need to do something (declutter) or anything else - when you are ready. Otherwise you won’t do a good job. It’s like doing a diet because the Doctor tells you to, but you don’t agree. Unless you are committed to it, you won’t be successful.
