So here goes my crazy, not so useful but quite interesting experiment.
I recently made 1 million to 1 gear reduction .. and powered it by 100 RPM motor.Which would turn the last gear once in 174 hours or 7.2 Days .
So, You guys asked me to run it faster. That means.. time for a powerful motor.. The mighty 775 DC Motor.
There couple of things I want to experiment here.
First of all. These gears will run as it it.. no lubrication, no oiling, I want to see if these PLA Plastic will melt, burn or even deform.
Secondly if the wooden shaft will burn or something .. Surprise surprise Nothing Happened!
The 775 DC motor runs at 6000 RPM (with load) for around 3 hrs continuously.
I have condensed the 3 hours of rotation into 1 hr, so that its a bit manageable. I've changed the position of the camera couple times.
Also I missed 15-20 minutes of video recording due to Camera's 30minute video recording time.
I have tested the temperatures in between which were round 5-6 degree higher than Ambient temp of 22 C.
What do you guys say? Should we crank up the RPM of the motor even higher?
