A number of these online communities, associated with NFT projects, hold little value. A community of people who spend hours being cheerleaders for Twitter and Discord announcements, for whitelist spots, generally has miniscule real-world exchange-value. And for those projects that don't achieve a high floor price, participation in their online "clubs" can quickly decrease. Celebrity fans, customers of well-known brands, etc. are another story, but such NFT projects don't benefit from mindless whitelist wars, where people waste time on Twitter and Discord.
