@elsiescreationstoshare58884 жыл бұрын
Hai lily. I don't used an airbrush. Actually it is an infuse hose. Or flexible straw. Its from the hospital. I use my breath and blow trough this for spredding the ink. A plastic straw will works also very good!

Hello Sue, there is a facebook group for this technique. I think from Australia. Maybe they have an idea. And my YT video is on that group: Soldering iron ink art on yupo.

Is it a soldering iron?
@elsiescreationstoshare58886 жыл бұрын
Hai Gillian, actually this is a tool for burnig patterns in wood. You can try a soldering iron. I hoop it is not too hot for the yupo.

Thank you. Maybe the soldering iron would be scary! Really love the concept and your colours. Hope you’ll become a regular on Utube.

Some soldering irons have variable heat settings. You could use one of those. I use my variable soldering iron for lots of different things including wood burning. Amazon has lots of options.

Thank you for the video, I'm a beginner - learning! I noticed that you peeled the yupo paper off your board, leaving the cut pieces behind (which you scraped off) Is the board you are sticky?
@elsiescreationstoshare58884 жыл бұрын
Hello Denise. The board is not sticky. With heating the yupo it melts. And because it behaves like plastic it sticks on the glass plate i use.

When you burn along the dark lines, it will reinforce depth: 3D effect.

How do you keep from getting white lines around your cutouts?
@elsiescreationstoshare58886 жыл бұрын
Hallo Johnnie. Melting yupo always gives white lines. In some projects I colored the lines black. Or I work in this technique only with light colors so the lines are much less noticeable. Hope this tips helps you.

I appreciate this video very much. I bought the tool and today tried it. Works well. But I have a question: is burning the Yupo paper toxic? I had an overhead fan on and window open, but I could see fumes. Do you wear any kind of a respirator while doing these projects? Thank you again, and I hope to hear from you!
@elsiescreationstoshare58886 жыл бұрын
Hello Rita, I don't wear a mask or something with this project. An open window is always good if you work with the inks.
@bethbenson19314 жыл бұрын
She did not answer about the toxic fumes from the burned Yupo paper, just the alcohol inks. It worries me that artists sometimes totally ignore the dangers of burning plastic. My guess is to err on the side of caution and assume that the fumes are very harmful and protect yourself. 💙

Beautiful but the papers have not been treated to protect the art. Typically you'd varnish, then uv protect and then gloss protect alcohol ink projects to protect etc.

Just tried this, thank you very much for you video, may I ask is it really necessary to use such small foam pads? And if you wanted the layers further apart would you use two pads stuck together?thanks.
@elsiescreationstoshare58886 жыл бұрын
Hai Pam, For bigger parts in de second layer you can use bigger pieces of foam (or use dubble stick tape) but you need the same high (thickness). When you stick two pads together you may see the pads on the edges in the finished creation. And that's not so nice because you than show the secret of the 3D effect..... Hope you can use this answer.

On the very small spaces i cut the tiny pads in two and I use half pads. I use a paire of tweezers.
