I am always taken aback by how much energy and spunk you have, the absolute enthusiasm for blacksmithing. and the amount of knowledge you seem to possess in the art of blacksmithing at so young an age is just mind blowing! im 48 getting taught by someone half my age, that knows so much more about this then I might ever. and I love it!

This is really an epic movement right here. I can feel the crackling energy of the concept. I'm starting a piggy bank for this class. Imagine making your own tools and learning how to heat and strike before you even start on your own, my God, there are going to be some quality Blacksmiths coming out of this. You can always go back for move and move advanced training. Why am I so hyped, lol.

In my opinion these age of videos are the peak of Alec Steele. He had most of his blacksmithing skills he still has but didn't have loads of fancy tools that only he can afford

Let him ride on the wave of his fame... I personally am just disappointment with the fraudulent title for the advertisement for his old classes, and am glad I had missed this video in the past. I was just hoping I had missed a video where he actually went over hand made tools... now all his videos seem to be are highly decorative, low quality, over priced collectors items... I do miss the old Alec Steele.

Great video! looks like all the tools turned out wonderful. Iv got a question though.. I'm looking at getting an anvil cast for me as second hand ones are soo expensive and hard to find in Canada. The foundry was thinking 4140 for the whole casting then heat treated and tempered... do you think that will be the correct metal to use?? Also what style anvil do you recommend? Thanks for all the great content and inspiration!

+Van Der Hoof 1040 steel for the hammers! 1045 works great! 4140 is good too provided you heat treat it correctly!

What is the texturing on the cheeks of the hammer for? Any practical use? Or is it just for aesthetic?
@error_9453
@error_9453 6 жыл бұрын
Andrew Fillerup to increase the surface area of the contact with the handle so it doesn’t fall off. The actual texturing isn’t necessary, just the increase of the cheek size
