Do you think $50 USD a day is a realistic daily budget for Thailand?
@thaitraveller77

depending very much where you're going to. For the north it will be more than enough, for the south it might be too little and for Kho Yao doesn't make any sense!

I think for a single person it`s always more expensive, we travel always with our partners, so we can share room, food and beers😊😊

@thaitraveller77 Agreed. For our Canadian dollars,especially! $25-30 for a night at a hostel or hotel is expected. Plus $5-10 for a plate of food twice per day. That's pretty much it! With USD, you have a little more left over for transportation or entry tickets to something. But it's tight, and most people would be stressed traveling like that, imo. You have to he creative with a 50/day budget, and forced to stay in the north.

All inclusive of all expenses I would think $50 p/day would be enough to live on. There are many days that you can get by on $10 or less for food.

Money is so subjective Paddy. Fifty is a fortune for some and nothing to others. I can easily survive on fifty a day in Thailand. Thinking most Thais live on 300 to 500 a month USD. Always enjoy your videos mate.

To be fair, after the boat to the island, scooter and accommodation he had $17.50 per day to spend which isn't much for Southern Thailand. Most Thais aren't incurring these costs. Budget long term accommodation in Thailand is really cheap.

If you're not picky about food (only street food) and live outside big cities like bangkok, phuket, pattaya etc then yes its realistic a month. This is doable for people that doesn't crave for western food, and night life entertainment.

Yes! $50 per day is definitely a realistic budget for a nice vacation in Thailand! 😊 Last year we met a backpacker couple in the Philippines. They are traveling around the world for more than a year now and their average daily budget is approximately $25 😃👍🏼 I think more people need to know that traveling doesn’t have to be expensive.

I travelled accros Thailand and south east Asia last year with my girlfriend as backpackers on a very tight budget. Our daily budget about 50-60$ for both of us and we enjoyed our time very much. Everyone has different requirements of course (dorm vs private room, cheap street food vs restaurant, etc) but we had a really great time and have absolutely no regrets whatsoever. We usually spent 10$ for a room (always private room), 10-15$ on food, 5-10$ on transport and some days we spent more on activities (boat tour, kayak rental etc). But some days we just relaxed and drove around on a scooter and it costs nothing. It’s our experience and we absolutely loved it. If you’re ready to sleep on hard beds with only a fan, eat cheap on the market, travel on local transport 50-60$ a day for 2 is possible but I can understand that people want more comfort. Anyway it’s our opinion and our experience. SEA is a beautiful place on earth with so many incredible things to offer Thanks for your videos Paddy your Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos series helped us a lot in planning our trip

$50 usd u can spend less than that a day in Thailand I mean honestly if u are only staying in Bangkok,Phuket,Pattaya,koh samui,krabi of course $50 usd and above but outside of these areas u can live in Thailand from off of $30 or even $25 usd a day.Not every foreigner want to be in the cities and touristy areas I’m only 28 years old and I don’t ill rather stay in Trang Thailand over Bangkok.Ill pick Chiang Mai over Pattaya and hua hin over Phuket any day 😊.It’s too many KZbinrs giving out information for cost of living and its not relevant to the entire country.Because when you go far north and far south in Thailand the cost of living is extremely cheap prices that most foreigners don’t even know that still exists in Thailand.Why because everyone like to target the same areas I like the places that aren’t publicized and not commercialized.The side of Thailand u never hear about that’s the real Thailand 🇹🇭 😊.No modernism straight nature.

I'm guessing because he has viewers from all over the world. For better or worse the US dollar remains the dominant currency in worldwide trade, so most people have a rough idea what one dollar equals in their own currency. I've seen videos where people bother to convert the baht into several currencies, but that always looks a bit awkward. Personally, I wish people would just say the prices in baht. It's ridiculous to point out in a video that you paid $2.63 for a mango smoothie when the exchange rate changed by the time you uploaded the video.

You'd have breezed 2 days on a $100 10-15 years ago, but unfortunately these las natural frontiers get discovered and consequently rise in price. The best example is the once stunningly, beautiful island of Palawan in The Philippines. When I was there in January 2001 there was only about 55-60 places of accommodation on the entire island. Ranging in price from $1.50-$70 per night.That's now tenfolded along with exclusive resorts that are basically for multimillionaires and beyond. With a price tag of $3000 a night! To think I could have a beach hut 10 yards away from the water for $10, eat for $1.50 and drink a bottle of San Miguel pilsner for 30 cents is totally flabbergasting. I've only used US$ for clarification, as opposed to GB£ because I'm from The UK.

Paddy, I'm a big fan. Really enjoyed your material on Vietnam. By comparison, this stuff is weak. I know the north-to-south bicycle thing didn't pan out, but you said during it that east-to-west would be more workable. Why don't you do that? I'm not watching any more of this current stuff, but would if you got back on your bicycle. Maybe end at the Bridge on the River Kwai.

Most of the money went to beers 😂. Nothing wrong with that but you enjoy socializing. I’d just buy some whiskey to drink at sunset for myself so 50 a day is actually more than I need. Of course someone could spend a lot more. Screw the dorm if you can avoid it. I’d rather camp in the jungle or on the beach than deal with dorms.

A budget of $50 (not resort locations) is possible, but I'd suggest $75 to $100 a day if you are on vacation. DJI drone ranges: DJI Mini 2 & 3 10 kilometers (6.2 mi).
