39:56 Rob you have it backwards. Those two throttle plates on that FD UIM are for the Double Throttle set up. They don't actuate at low rpms as you think. They work based on engine temp and stay closed full time until the engine comes up to a safe temp. Mazda did this to prevent the engine from over boosting when cold. The factory throttle body itself has the delayed opening of the secondary throttle on top that feed the secondary runners separately. So on the FD, at very light throttle, the top two plates are closed and then slowly open with more throttle. Now the #1 reason you have low end idle/drivabilty issues with open UIM is because those manifolds don't separate the primary from the secondary. The open chamber to both runners slows down the air flow substantially, which makes it turbulent. That inconsistency of flow also keeps the fuel from automizing. Also, remember that the secondary runners opening timing on the plates has a slight over lap on the intake side. That doesn't help flow on the bottom end either. I'm an NA guy who builds my own intakes, so you have to have an understanding of flow. My NA 20b has secondary throttle plates that open at specific rpms to help drivabilty. You can hear how smooth my engine sounds on my starter upgrade videos for reference.

What was backwards? They way you explain it is more or less the same way Rob explained it...
@rotaryperfection
@rotaryperfection 3 ай бұрын
@LeftysRule22 On a stock FD upper, Rob thought those two upper butterflies actuated on and off depending on throttle position/rpm. Those particular two throttle plates only stay closed when the engine is cold. Once the engine is warm, they open and stay open continuously. There is no open and shut with engine rpm on the factory setup like he was claiming early on. The throttle plates on the throttle body itself have delayed mechanical opening. Now, once he put back the FD UIM on that new machined single throttle body, he was able to use those plates as secondary shutter valves. I was just explaining that those plates don't work that way on the factory car like how he's used them in the video.
@LeftysRule22

As a machinists seeing full speed rapids and lack of use of single block is giving me anxiety. If we are really watching the first time run of new programs.. one day it isn't going to go so well and you're going to learn the purpose of rapid override and single blocking. Been a machinists for 20 years and I'm currently the main programmer/operator for all the 5 axis in our shop, It's not IF you crash the machine, its WHEN you crash the machine.

Stoked on the FC getting some love! Rob though, PLEASE start using the single block function on your CNC, which pauses after each line and use the feedrate knob! I used worked as a CNC machinist for around 5 years and you basically ALWAYS want to use single block on a fresh setup and fresh code, then use like 5-10% feedrate to get in close to your part. Once you see that it's not going to crash and looks good, slowly crank it up to 100% and listen to it to make sure everything's good. After the line of code finishes, hit your next line at 0% and slowly bring it up, then hit it to 100%. I get time is money, but sooner or later you'll put that poor HAAS out of commission going full bore every time. If you don't feel you have the time to babysit the machine through all of that, at the very least do that at the very beginning when you're moving 10 inches per second, or whatever. At a slow cutting reedrate you'll fuck up the part or the tool at worse probably, but at the beginning going that fast and crashing hard can do a lot more damage than that.

Don't forget that, while the plugged O2 sensor might last longer, the sampling delay will be significantly larger too. Those extra holes will allow the gases to quickly vent right through it, but with only 1 hole at the top, the new gases passing by will have to first mix in with the old gases that sits in the little chamber before it can be read accurately

It's almost like dieseling at idle with those full open manifolds definitely a good observation and something to look into and experiment with for the future

We use the Rear turbo oil drain on my wifes FD for the right hand side breather, on my FD we use the location of where the OMP usually is but is gutted not. We run a -10 line like we do from the oil filler side

Love the lower intake adapter. I’m not sure per runner O2 sensors will work correctly when they are installed in an environment with 900 degrees and 4 atmospheres of EMAP. Also I flattened corner seal springs around 10 years ago. I was using E85 fuel + water injection and experimenting with ‘lean’ air fuel ratios looking for power on a small turbo setup. I attributed it to detonation resistant fuel and very hot EGTs.

I bought a sample of AG1 I didn't like it until I hit it with the Soda Stream and added some arborvitae which is my usual heath and joint supplement, the two are actually perfect for each other in amounts that don't exceed certain vitamins.

Just fyi, if you turn the ac frequency up on your tig welder, not only will it make it easier to weld but also clean the metal better making the weld look a lot better.
