thanks for this bro, this ws perfect for what i needed. ive been wondering about this , i have some many 808 samples i could be taking use of, and kept slacking on figuring it out. really help diversify my 808 sounds. was also cool to hear you usually add 808s at the end, i have done the same thing for a while, but noticed alot of other producers seem to do 808s often right after making the melody or sample. always interested to see how others do it. lthanks again bro

I've got an issue when I try to raise the volume of my 808 from my mixer channel it shows automated on my master track and the 808 automatically becomes muted Please how do I go about this Thanks.

That's because Reaper automatically mutes any track that exceeds +30db. You can either make your soundcard volume higher rather than making the 808 super loud or just simply go to preferences in Reaper and chenge the setting. Look for "Audio ---> Mute/Solo" and there you'll find it.

Noob question alert 📣 What is the need for tuning the sample even after selecting semitone shift mode? It should pitch up and down based on what we play, shouldn't it? Also, can autotune be used instead (if it is absolutely needed)

Yes, but if you press C on the keyboard or place a C note in midi editor you want to hear a C note on the 808, not any other note 😉

No, every musical note has its letter and pitch - C C# D D# E F F# G and so on.

Tuning an 808 is just choosing a root note, a reference note. It has nothing to do with autotune or actual tuning something because it's out of tune. It's just done to have the 808 sample in the same pitches as other instruments, so you have the same, higher and lower pitched sounds all over the keyboard.

(Cymatics usually mentions that on the file name) Because honestly I do not understand how to tune a sample.

@@WodzuBeats Sorry dude, so I'm basically exporting the Roland 808 bass straight from my Apple's GB (so I make individual tracks for each note, then export them individually with names, C,C#,D,D# etc...) then I load them in ReaSamplOmatic5000 to use those sounds, but I'm not so sure if the notes has to be 1/4 of a bar, 1 bar, 1/2 of a bar, before exporting, cos I've tried with different lengths and I don't seem to find the exact one so when I use my piano keyboard (same as yours, btw) it holds the note, or releases it nicely as it does in GB, I'm new to Reaper but I'm using all my GB sounds to avoid downloading lots of things!! Sorry for the big text, hope you understood this time xD

@@RobSinner Whoa, so much work for a decent 808 😀 I think the note should be the longest you'll ever use, so pick the lowest usable tempo like 65-70bpm and make them maybe over 1 bar. That way you'll never "run out" of the 808 sample when creating in higher tempos and you won't have to use the loop feature in ReaSamplomatic5000

​@@WodzuBeats Hi Wodzu, I exported every GB sound of each Roland Drum Machine included in it (CR-78, CR-8000, TR-606, TR-707, TR-727, TR-808, TR-909) and loaded them into separate tracks in Reaper, so I have basically the same sounds. I set every note at velocity 96 before exporting from GB then create a new track, and import every sound, but I can't set it properly so it works like an actual Drum Machine. I want to set Level/Decay/Tune /Snappy in each note as you can do in the original Drum Machine, and I think I got something decent, but I can't mute the Open Hi-Hat when I press the Closed Hi-Hat for example, do you think this is a good way of creating nice Roland drum machines in Reaper??
