You are a classy fellow. Beautiful work. I forgot to mention your music brought me back to my grandfather’s home in Cornwall Ontario when I was a little boy in the early 70’s fun family time.

You and your wife are a good team . Your workmanship is amazing and an order like this will definitely bring in some extra income and promote your business . I’d like to meet you someday Ethan , I’m in New Zealand and dairy farming is my job , however I’m learning blacksmithing as I too have an interest in steam engines and their restoration. Often new parts need to be made and I hope to learn to make them the old ways . Keep up your great work, all the best - Tim

That is so cool and very good quality! Thank you for sharing these traits. What 've tested and had a success is leting the head of the axe in boiled linseed oil overnight soak. Kind of putting in in a trail filled with boiled linseed oil. So the oil will absorb in the wood but wont evaporate. Keep up! Good job!

Sitting down on the job!!! good plan when you can :) Best advice I was given on fixing broken tools/tooling was make it stronger where it broke . . . not sure how much help that is right now . . . Thanks for explaining the reasoning behind charring the handles, was something i was wondering on.

Great video! Did you know you can get knee pads that fit into your Carhart overalls? They are light enough that you don't notice them, but great if you have to kneel. Trust me, I wish I would have been kinder to my knees when I was younger.

Starting to wonder if Alex Steele makes ANY of the Alex Steele tools at all. Nice work Ethan. I hope he's paying you very well.

Not sure about Alex Steele...but Alec doesn't make many of his own, no. He did used to, showed that he can, but he has asked others to now. Not sure how Ethan feels, but it is an opp to make content for someone with a big name that'll bring views. *shrug* I mean, Ethan does great work whether or not its for Alec. Happy to learn either way!

Alec did spend many years making everything himself and in that time he learnt what he likes and what his customers like. He also spent a LOT of time and money learning how to make his tools to be the best. Now he's found his winning formula he can pass that knowledge on to someone else who then make the tools that Alec is wanting. In the old day he would have had an apprentice to pass this on to and who would slowly take over making the final product so that the master could work on more important things...... like playing with his dog. In our modern world things can start to get a bit blurred but things do kinda still work the same way...... ish. It does get Ethan's name out there and gives him the opportunity to learn from some really good blacksmiths....... it also means a bit more regular money coming in, which is a definite bonus 😊👍

Jig keeps breaking? Don't repair, instead, redesign, heftier, stronger, maybe forged instead of fabrication and arc welding?
