@Diluted373 жыл бұрын
@@sirfitz8125 Apart from other diamonds and a very select few synthetic materials, yes they are. While they can still be broken, they are very sturdy and would require A LOT of directed force to shatter. Watch some videos where people hydraulic press diamonds, they don't break easily. This is quite useful when working with diamonds because you don't have to worry much about doing any damage to the diamond(s).

@@Diluted37 you can take a hammer and shatter them. They are the hardest MINERAL, keyword MINERAL.
@BigCroca3 жыл бұрын
@@sirfitz8125 you’re almost completely wrong. Diamonds are the hardest natural thing in the universe as far as we know. The only harder materials we’ve theorized or made are special ceramics that are very difficult to produce. The reason diamond shatters when you hit it with a hammer is because it is incredibly brittle, meaning it can’t absorb much energy and it’s very rigid unlike for example steel or rubber. There is still no metal that can scratch diamond though, it’s just too hard. That’s like trying to scratch glass with a piece of paper.

@phantomsmithy3 ай бұрын
Watch carefully... there is a LOT of slight of hand in his videos... He shows a lot of hand building at the beginning (around 3:50) but then when you pause at 5:23 you can see that there are layer lines from 3D printing and casting the main shank and prongs. The original shank when he is soldering the wires for the prongs, the wires are significantly thinner and the shank is solid and a single width. The cast setting has thicker prongs and the individual cups that the stones will sit in have defined gaps that would have required he go in between his wires in the initial build and carve them out. That would be a MASSIVE waste of time to do and yet it's extremely clear it's been printed and cast.

@@eli_steiner not Bobby but I make jewelry as well... There are different solders, easy, medium, hard, etc... Each has different melting points. So you can solder one with medium then the next with easy and as long as you don't over heat the metal the previous stuff should stay soldered. You can sometimes get away with using the same solder if you direct the heat well and/or its not extremely close to another solder joint. Anyway hope that answered your question.
