V2 with a battery to get rid of the ugly power cord is the only suggestion I have beyond what was talked about on CLAMP ;)

This turned out great! Embrace the jank! I would totally have gotten bogged down trying to fix some of the things you and other commenters mentioned. I definitely need to just get past that phase and get a working v1 finished before I hit that point. I struggle with it and have so many unfinished projects in F360 or SketchUp phase.

Yeah I guess it’s a double edged sword, sometimes it’s great for me being able to push through perfection and get things done! But it has its trade offs 😊

Sorry that came out harsher than intended. I think a battery would last a very long time for the amount of use the light would get. However the cord does add to the retro look ;)

For realz tho, fun project, came out very nice. Now I'm thinking what kind of cool lighting effect you could get by playing with the infill type/density on the word plate.

Thanks man! I would love to play with artistic infill patterns - I was getting inspired reading this article: help.prusa3d.com/en/article/inifill-patterns_177130

Ok, so, I’m actually surprised you didn’t hit a certain point in your design, because I felt you we’re heading this way, where you said “I can’t decide what I want the sign to say, I’ll make the letter plate interchangeable so I can print new ones out and easily swap them out as I feel like it”. I think that would be pretty cool as well as pretty easy to accomplish by just having it drop into a groove instead of being glued in. My only other critique would be that the power cord is very dominant, visually. Obviously it needs power but in version 2 perhaps the plug can happen behind the scenes instead of being exposed, then you’d only have a thin wire coming out. OK, one last thing!... those aren’t “half inch” nuts. You refer to a nut or bolt by the thread size, not by the head size, so if those nuts take a half inch wrench they should be 5/16”. Overall though, I think it’s a really fun project and I only offer all these comments because I know you like iterating and analyzing. 😻

Yeah interchangeable plates would be neat but for me, I’m happy with the single option😊 Totally feel you on the power cord, definitely could be improved upon. Re: the screws, totally my bad, and I realized that when I was writing the description with the material list. I designated them properly and added a link in the description! 😁

Did you not just make a "THINK BIGGER" sign? And you follow it up with this, much SMALLER sign? Unsubscribe.
