Hey Nick, been following you since you started few short videos on KZbin. Way back in 2007-2008 or even earlier with your PVC bows. Just want to say thanks for sharing the passion for archery and I admire your creativity. Shame that you don't post much lately. Love your new look, from a boy(dont kill me) to a wise man, lookwise only, you have always been wise. I swear, in a few years with a white gi, you can turn into one of those seasoned Okinawan karate masters.

This is great...not only showing how to build the bow but, the important feature that you are doing now is also building the proper string...amazingly great. Keep up the great work. Have you ever thought of kit packages of the various types of pvc to ship to people in areas that the supplies are not available? I believe that tariffs are not assigned to materials for projects as long as they are not assembled. Much Aloha...

Hey Nick ! Attempt 2 , hope you see this . I'm planning on attempting a bow soon, a tapered PVC bow with a fibreglass bundle core. I'm from India, so I might not find everything needed, so if I don't find any fibreglass, I'll be using bamboo bundle core instead. Will it still be viable ? Also, this will be my first PVC bow build, but I'm confident I can do this, as I have some experience with bamboo bows. Again , here's my doubts - 1. Will a Bamboo core instead of fibreglass still be as effective ? 2. Can you tell me some specific details of the PVC I should buy? I'll be looking in some local hardware stores, and I need a clear idea of what I should look for. 3. Any other tips to a first time build ? Also , thank you sooo much for the great content. I've been into archery since i was a kid, and I only found your channel like 5 days ago , and your videos helped me kindle that archery spirit back so much! Keep it up!

I wonder if you could make the handle out of a separate piece as well, sort of to reduce the flex in the handle (and up poundage maybe). Im wondering if those pvc siyahs have the same property as wood siyahs in that they dont flex. Looks nice though, hope we get to see you shoot it some!

Nick, when you use 'hot melt glue'...is it just a glue stick? Or is it a type of glue you get from the hardware store? Once again, thanks for the bowstring tutorial at the end.

Hey mate, I’ve watched your vids pretty much since you started posting. Has been some great content over the years. Some friendly advice you can take or leave…..you need to edit out some of the repetition “now we do the second one the same”, no need, you have shown the ‘how to’, but the main one is showing a vice, or the heat gun sitting on screen, while you work off camera. It’s a bit of of a turn off and new viewers may just switch off. But, at the end of the day it’s about the bows and you have produced another great bow, well done. Particularly liked the added string tutorial. Keep up the good work.

Love your videos but need two answers... Why furniture grade pvc? How long do these pvc bows last? Generally...
@BackyardBowyer
@BackyardBowyer 3 жыл бұрын
Thank you for watching! I like furniture grade pipe because it is UV and impact resistant compared to plumbing PVC pipe. These pipes have survived what others do not. If made well and with PVC that is not brittle, a PVC bow can last at least ten years so far. My oldest PVC bows are that old and still shoot fine. I've found that some very brittle pipes tend to fail at around 500-600 arrows. A good PVC bow should be able to shoot thousands of arrows without problem.

The brand name is Formufit, and it's called 3/4" schedule 40 furniture grade PVC pipe. As far as I know, Home Depot is the only hardware store that carries it. It is most likely online only, I've only seen it in store once in California.
