Very nice. I always say, “My mistakes are turned into my new designs”😁. Thanks for sharing.

I like that saying Sharon. Mistake are only a bad thing if you don't learn anything from it. Sometimes, they surprise us and provide us with new design elements that look fantastic. Thanks for tuning in to the show this week and for taking the time to leave the kind words.

Pretty cool!!! With the base that way kind of gives it the appearance of it floating. 👍

It does Sherman. I really like that way this base came out. In fact, I am really pleased with the entire box. Thanks for the kind words and for tuning in to the show.

I’m loving these boxes. I have so many ideals on making some on my scroll saw. I don’t have a band saw yet.
@acutabove_woodworkings3 жыл бұрын
This project is very doable on the scroll saw Mindy. The only thing that the scroll saw wouldn't be able to do here is cut the piece off the bottom for the base of the box. For that, you could just use a hand saw if you wished. A table saw would do the same thing but you might want to do it in two passes. I hope this helps. Thanks for tuning in to the show.
@alanwasserman81763 жыл бұрын
What a great looking box, I have nevered thought about cutting a box on a bandsaw, most of the time it's cut on my tablesaw unless it's a Whimsical bandsaw box, now I have ideas that can use the tablesaw, the deep red flocking looks great against the poplar, I guess Ken's wife told him no you can't use my Crikcut machine (sorry Ken lol) the box looks fantastic have a safe and wonderful weekend to you and the family
@acutabove_woodworkings3 жыл бұрын
Glad that you liked the project Alan. The shape of this box really appeals to me and I hope that it will appeal to other viewers as well and that they will try it for themselves. As for the Cricut machine......I'm lucky that I have a wife that doesn't mind sharing her toys with me. She's pretty awesome. Thanks for tuning in this week sir. I hope you and your family have a great weekend as well.

Kenny, I really like boxes of all types. This one came out great, I especially like the raised base even though it was unintentional it makes the box look like it is floating. Shellac is a great finish and about as natural as you can get. Awesome project my friend.

Show me a person who never makes mistakes in woodworking, and I will show you a pathological liar. LOL. We all make mistakes. The important thing is to learn from it and move on. I was able to correct this one and it turned out great. Other than that, I would have just had a piece of designer firewood. LOL. Thanks for tuning in Karl.

Great video, I like the box. Another use for scraps is tear of burning them or throwing them out. Thats size is kinda on the edge for some. I have a question. You said to scroll saw to cute the lid out? Why not use the band saw to cut it, as it would be the perfect tool, and you have been using it for the rest?
@acutabove_woodworkings3 жыл бұрын
Variety is the spice of life Scott. If you wanted to use the bandsaw to cut the lid, there is no reason that you could. For me though, I prefer the scroll saw. The cut edge is much cleaner which reduces that amount of sanding needed and I am just more comfortable on the scroll saw. You are correct though, that the bandsaw would be just as capable for cutting the lid, making this (pretty much) a one tool project. I hope this helps. Thanks for tuning in to the show sir.

Nice project, now how to get a bandsaw past my wife made all the more difficult due to Sydney’s lockdown she’s sure to notice it being delivered and No asking is not an option, best to ask for forgiveness when it arrives

I really like that but could it be done with a scrollsaw as I don't have a bandsaw.
@acutabove_woodworkings3 жыл бұрын
This could definitely be done on a scroll saw. The only part that might give you trouble, is cutting the bottom slice off of the box. For this though, you could use a handsaw. It's a very doable project. I hope this helps. Thanks for tuning in Mark.

So I decided to buy the 40 pack flocking paper.. Applied the KEN30 code and after that got hit with a $27.00 shipping charge and that was the cheapest rate. All that was won was lost. I think I made a down payment on a mail truck..

Dear sir, couldn’t the top have been placed with the rest of the wood when using the bandsaw and sanding? It just seems like the top might be off otherwise.
@acutabove_woodworkings2 жыл бұрын
As with any woodworking process Gary, there is always more than one solution to achieve the same results. The methods that I show here on the channel are merely suggestions and you can feel free to change them up however you wish. You idea would work as well and if that is what you are comfortable with, then by all means, produce the lid using your method. Thanks for tuning in to the show and for chiming in with your question. It's a great one.
