I hate how this lady's mental illness made her unable to realize what she put other people through by cleaning that type of filth. Once you get out, realize how you want to keep your own space organized. Keep yourself accountable like with any addiction, if you're starting to relapse, take steps to intervene. Downsize your possessions frequently. You won't find peace in the same place that the untreated addiction lives hanging over you, constantly reminding you that you're suffering. Try not to blame (very important) because that causes fights which add to the overall misery. I'm sorry to hear you're affected by this. This problem can seem massive and hopeless but you seem to have the spirit in you to rise above, break the cycle, and say "no more". I believe in you.

@@potmeetkettleThe things I do is Down size my stuff often. When it starts to get crowded. Try to organize belongings and make sure things have a place so that I can put it away. I noticed I’m more relaxed when things are organized. Take care of your mental health. When I have anxiety I feel overwhelmed and when my mind is a mess it manifests on the outside…these are times when I am not organized…so keeping my mental health in check helps me stay organized. I also watch hoarders…it always makes me go and clean and get rid of things I don’t need. No matter how many times I messed up I just kept trying and eventually my habits changed. I worked for a gas utility. A gas leak would never cause that kind of filth. Natural gas is odorless and colorless. Odor is added to it to make a leak perceptible. That woman was living in filth. She also lied to the cleaners at the beginning when she said her home wasn't too bad, just maybe the floors. She tried to get her place cleaned without having to pay the people who had to clean up that disgusting mess. That's wrong.

I am a housekeeping company and you would be surprised how many homes I see in that condition or heading into that condition. Hoarding is very real and so much more common than people realize.

The plaintiff and her team worked so hard to help the defendant and she was ungrateful, that makes me mad. They did all that work on that nasty house and the defendant acts like she doesn't even appreciate it!

The elderly lady should be ashamed of herself for what she did to people who were kind enough to want to help her clean her disgusting filthy home which she is guilty of creating. They deserved more than what they received. I am a cleaner and it amazes me how people let their homes get to such a state that they don't wish to clean them and then tell someone who does that it isn't good enough. Keep your own damn house clean then!
