Nice job Bruce. Can you elaborate on why you needed the aluminium? It seems as though those 'tabs could've been extensions of the side pieces. You said at one point that the AL wasn't structural and then they end up holding the bottom pulley and the shackle at the top.
@BruceAUlrich4 жыл бұрын
This item will be decorative. It cannot actually hold a lot of weight, so the aluminum will pull or fold if under a serious amount of weight. However, it will hold the pulley and shackle just fine for these purposes. Does that make sense?

Loved the design and outcome. My only remark would be to countersink the bolts and nuts and cover them them with a piece of the same wood. That would create a “how did you do that” moment for the viewers. But a very nice product and process which I might try soon.

@tomt954310 ай бұрын
Cool project! And although it appears a “small” project, there’s a lot to it! Question: it looked like if it was rigged as a block and tackle, the rope would hit the spacers because they are wider than the sheave wheel diameter. I know this is a cosmetic project, but I just wondered. Great end result though!
@BruceAUlrich10 ай бұрын
Yeah, you're right. There are a couple of things that would not be totally functional about this piece. It was really just for fun.
