I had a friend in Idaho that made kitchen utensils from logging cable (knives, forks, spoons, and yes, sporks). It is a great look and conversation piece.

Cool I suggest welding the one end before you cut it though. Makes it a little easier if you do it again.

Yeah unless your cable is in a field I use to use hose clamps to keep the cable together before cutting

Suggestion: make a small iron stamp with your logo so that you can warm it and stamp it on wood handles. It is a small thing but adds a lot of value/image to the final product 👍🏼😉

It's beautiful. I love it. I think I agree with Martin: Longer would be more practical. You might be worrying about imaginary problems with the longer ones not welding and spreading in use. You won't know for certain until you do it, I suppose?

Tim, If I wasn't international, I'd buy a centre punch like that, only maybe a little longer(if that is possible without splaying) so you can get a good grip on it with your hand and not just your fingers.

Could you have heated it up and then smacked the end a handful of times? Just thinking that might weld it more (the tip would have to be in some pre-formed cone, yah this is becoming a process lol), but yah to weld the cable a bit more

Nice little center punch there. Next time clean the cable or any steel before tig welding it, it would weld much easier because argon likes clean surfaces not contaminated.
