A guy purchased this 1979 Camaro site unseen, almost to the month a year ago. Since then, it's just been waiting to be cleaned up. Originally, I had plans to do a full restoration on the camaro, as the 78/79 are one of my favorite years, but other projects have now taken precedence. I'm going to do a quick "rehab" on the ol' girl and just send it down the line. This way, we save a classic, and someone else can take over where I'm leaving off.

My Dad used to own a 1984 Ford LTD Crown Victoria when I was a kid. I found one for sale in Ohio last year and I've been working to try and get it up and running to give to him as I think he would really like the old girl. However, I'm no mechanic and it's been really tough to get a lot of the project done (there are not a lot of videos on how to work on them). I did buy the repair manual for it, but there are a lot of pieces to keep moving. One of the things I've been having trouble with is the engine and distributor. I really appreciate your channel because you work a lot with very similar models of these things and it is helping me to figure out how to repair the car. Hopefully I'll be done with the project soon and can give her to my Dad!

What a nice thing to do. I think someone will have a lot of fun with the car and as you said, they can use it as a daily driver, or you gave them a good start on a restoration if they would like. I have a tip on detailing the car. For the interior, I get a bucket of warm water and some soap (Simple Green, Purple Power or anything I have sitting around). I use a rag and wipe down everything in the interior. If there's something that needs extra attention, I work that area a little more. I rinse it with a rag and water, then let it dry. Carpet and seats get cleaned (I use some foaming carpet/interior cleaner and use the scrubber on tough spots, then vacuum). I spray vinyl protectant on the dash, door panels, console and any vinyl parts. Last is a final window cleaning - Sprayway is awesome!. For the exterior, I hit the car with a clay bar and clay lube (not anything with wax). If it needs some deep cleaning, I use Superior's Rage mixed 4:1 - definitely use gloves! I also use Rage for the wheels - it's great stuff. Rinse and dry, then I use a DA polisher with Meguiars M100 (works better than M105), don't use too much product and run 5-6 passes per section (slow passes with little pressure), then wipe with a microfiber. After the paint is done, I use Turtle Wax Hybrid Solutions - bottle with the green stripe - I use this as a one step wax. A couple spritz per panel, wipe with a wax applicator and move to the next panel. When I'm done, I grab a new microfiber and wipe the excess off. Last is the rubber/plastic on the exterior. I use a clear gel protectant - just wipe it on, let it soak in and buff off the excess. Works great on tires too!

I love it but a guy needs to put a rear spoiler on the ol girl. Entertaining video for someone painting there 78 Z28 at the moment. This hit the spot.

Looks great! I'd love to drive it as it is. Replace parts that break with speedparts. It'll be a racecar in no-time! haha!

For future reference, if using the m105, you can spritz the panel with some water if it starts to dry out to give you more working time (or detail spray) Brushing the pad between passes helps alot too, especially with all that oxidation getting in the pad. The newer m110 runs a bit better but cuts just a little less. And finishing with m205 or m210 brings her shine out better. Hard when working with such old and thin single stage. Great job!!!

I love the way you fix up cars on a tight budget so to speak. They don't have to be a show car to be fun! When I was younger, I fixed cars the same way! Your videos are very entertaining and teach people that they can do this! So many channels out there that think everyone is rich with unlimited cash. I mentioned Vice Grip Garage on break at work and just about every guy instantly jumped in saying how much they love you channel!

When I use to work at GM, Pontiac, and Saturn we used 600 sandpaper and McGuires #5 and followed up with McGuires #7. Used a palm DA Sander or a Detroit red top, water in a spray bottle with couple drops of dawn. Polished with 1200 rpm polisher and shined with Detroit Red top with a 5'' buffing pad.
