Maybe you could do a video showing us how you make the mold/plugs? I see a lot of videos how you lay up carbon fiber, but that is pretty straightforward as long as you have a mold. I think making molds are more sophisticated and more complicated. How do you make molds? Could you do a video on that?
@ajhartmanaero2 жыл бұрын
Yeah you are not nearly the first one to ask me about the molds. Unfortunately I wasn't doing videos when I made just about all of my molds years ago. I do have some upcoming parts planned and will definitely do videos on molds and what goes into them.

Thanks for making these videos AJ! Very cool to watch and learn. I noticed you ran the infusion across the diffusor components. What is the advantage of running the flow of resin across instead of lengthwise? Time? Also if you did run it lengthwise (low point of mold to high point of mold) would it help any air bubbles to escape more easily?

Hello! Do you design in any draft to the tunnel walls to help with mold release? I assume no draft on the tunnel sides would be best for matching up the walls of the three tunnels, but perhaps at the expense of some difficulty with mold release? Thank you

Great work as always. Do you keep the vacuum pump on during the cure? What resin and hardener do you use?
@ajhartmanaero2 жыл бұрын
I keep it on. I use RhinoLinings infusion epoxy but just about any ifusion epoxy system would work fine.

Could you list the materials used? Weight and weave. Core material. Do you ever use biaxial weaves in your parts for torsional stiffness? Love your videos!

Can you do a video on mounting a rear diffuser? I’m mostly interested on “locating” the diffuser, because I like the look of a carters custom diffuser however they mount theirs to the gas tank cover and I plan to use a fuel cell. I basically want to know how to keep the diffuser’s position even if I remove the bumper

What angle do you use? Most I’ve researched are in the 6-7 degree range and some are really high in the 15 degree range. I’m going to add one to the Cobra Daytona Coupe I’m building.

Depends on a lot of things.

you mentioned reusable bags? wouldn't creating a reusable bag just be doing a layup with silicone and then allowing to cure, would be interested in your process for creating the reusable bags.
@ajhartmanaero2 жыл бұрын
Effectively yes, but there are some intricacies to inlet and vacuum line, and since my molds flanges weren't set up for them getting them to seal air tight can be an issue as well. And then all the money and time making them will need to be recouped to make it worth it as well.
