There is definitely an easier way then using $500+ in products to make a $20 piece. I don't mean you used that much product but that's what it cost to get all those products. I'm going to say that 99% of people watching just want an easy, cheap most importantly, way to reproduce a piece into carbon fiber. Having to buy all these products to make a few things here and there isn't it. Great informative video, don't get me wrong but maybe a bare bones approach to wet laying might help people looking up this search terms would help more

I dont understand why you put fiberglass on the back side of the mold. And carbon fiber cloth on the inside. Which the inside part is what you actually use correct?

Man, you’ve been the biggest inspiration to get my own business going. Not to be competitive against anyone else, but bringing carbon to the market in my area and making it more accessible to those who truly want the performance or style/value of it.

If i wanted to build a wooden box and carbon fiber the exterior for both appearance and strengthen it how would i keep all the faces smooth looking? Am i building a mould? Appreciate your time!

Why not use polyester resin to reinforce the underside of the plug? It would have been cheaper and cure faster.

We use a bunch of these Tormachs at our Custom Molding Injection facility for secondary machining work. Couple of thoughts before you buy the tool changer. I would strongly consider finding an 1100MX mill. The BT30 taper tools are FAR SUPERIOR to the T8 style tool holders. You can also do rigid tapping, and faster rapid moves between cuts. A couple of other options you should consider, I/O module very convenient for auto clamping or sensing things so you don't crash stuff. The auto probe would be helpful if you don't choose to make custom soft jaws for your jobs. A second vise would also be helpful, one for opp 1 and the other for opp 2. You can take advantage of G54 offsets if you want to do multiple parts as once. You should also find a small granite table (12"x18") and a height gauge so you can accurately measure and reproduce your tool stickouts. If you are looking for decent tooling MSC is a good resource. Harvey tool is another. If you want to learn more about machining look up NYC CNC KZbin channel. Keep up the good work maybe one day you can do some aero stuff for my Z32 turbo......

Having a spoiler just below the wing kinda helps speed up the air moving under the wing that keeps the air in contact with the wing coming off the spoiler. If that makes sense.

At what height does underbody aero do basically nothing except drag reduction? I have a street/weekend car that I'd like to keep close to stock height for practical purposes, but I'd like a little downforce for stiction and general fun, I just don't want it to be either a complete waste of time or inefficient enough to increase total drag and worsen fuel economy.

It's great you mention all the things that you have to keep an eye on. With my luck all those things that can go wrong will likely happen. This is why I am hesitant to do infusion, so much can go wrong and then all the material is wasted. btw, I don't understand why you don't use a core material. 3 layers you could have a core with only two layers and it will be much much stronger.

When using the haimer to find your X on that radius. What I’ve done in this scenario is to load the haimer in X, then jog Z positive or negative to find the high point of the radius. But also measuring the stop works too for sure.

Love watching these! I've made a small wind tunnel for a 1/10 scale RC car with corner weight scales embedded in the floor of the tunnel, 15 60mm server fans to power the tunnel at around 15 mph. I've been testing airfoil shaped front splitter with tunnels, fender vents, complete flat floor, rear diffuser, and a rear wing all parts I've designed and 3d printed. I definitely agree you can't just test and give numbers for what just one part does. Every part interacts with the other to impact downforce levels you achieve. It's been so interesting designing and modifying parts and retesting to see how much downforce I can achieve. I definitely got inspiration for my tunnel design from the bigger multifan tunnel they have and also from your channel for some design philosophy. 👍
