The snowspeeder is an iconic Star Wars vehicle, but canonically it was developed from a stock civilian airspeeder. In this video, I design what that might look like.

The snow speeder, modified with armor plating, stronger outboard laser cannons, and a harpoon tow cable for the rear gunner is not a true flight craft but a repulsor craft. So the flight ceiling is quite low. It hugs the ground well and is quite maneuverable but the addition of deflector shields was deemed costly and time consuming so watch yourself. I'd like to see theoretical imperial descendents of clone wars era capital ships, similar to how the security is developed from the venator. One idea for this would be an imerial model of a lucerhulk II bringing the design more in line with imerial design language and repurposing the central computer core space with a huge hospital and troop support system. I imagine the imperials would have commissioned this design and ordered a small number after the conclusion of the clone wars in order to anchor blockades and support troops fighting to expand imperial rule and subjugate dissident planets. I would see this as a sharper, leaner version of the CIS lucerhulk, with the ring being less of a doughnut and more of a frisbee, removing most of the huge dishes and antenna and replacing the central sphere with something more angular, perhaps a sort of blunted wedge shape. Typically imperial designs are primarily angular with a few rounded elements like sensor domes, reactor spheres and cockpits so I'd like to see a design with these rounded elements forming the primary framework, making the angular elements secondary.

Belbullab-22 Starfighter design actually can work as a civilian Single Occupant equivalent to a modern day Luxury Car, such as a Rolls-Royce or Bentley. CEOs of companies often fly them to office meetings due to there smooth lines and and fins (reminiscent of 70s cars) along the engines. Can even add a hood Ornament on the nose of the craft to really draw in the "expensive luxury ship". Now remember, this is to be equivalent to a car, or speeder, not a yacht, or larger cruiser. The Incom U-Wing can actually be retrofitted quite well to have its dropship bay for troops to be turned into a luxury private jet similar to that of a modern day Golfstream G500, and the slick lines of the U-Wing can really make have a impact as it lands in a space port with its unique appearance.

I think this is one of your best vid for hypothetical Star Wars vehicles. Primary civilian model needs a full canopy though. Different models of swoop bikes would be nice to see. The Ghtroc 720 freighter could use some 3D model work.

Awesome. I am imagining some of the hotrod versions with a big top fin like the T-16, mounted where the harpoon cannon would be, which allows it to move as a control surface.

Star wars Pirates/bounty hunters using the tow cables to hijack other air speeders is a pretty cool image.

An interesting detail about the T-47 from canon is that the repulsors have a very strong cooling system to compensate for the sheer amount of heat they generate...and as it turned out, they were actually a bit TOO effective and caused the Rebels problems on Hoth. They'd only just managed to finish winterizing all their T-47s in time for the Imperial attack. Also, the Imperial version of this reminds me a bit of a real-world aircraft: the Fw 189C. This aircraft was a prototype ground attack variant of the Fw 189 light bomber/recon plane used by the Germans in World War II, intended to fulfill a requirement for a tank buster (the Hs 129 ended up winning the contract instead).

I imagine that a light armor & blaster option was indeed available to the civilian marketplace as living in the Outer Rim would certainly entail the need to be able to defend oneself from the ubiquitous bad actors that also lived in the outer rim. A light armor/blaster option would be a necessity and offer a competitive marketing edge over another company’s non-armed and armored offering. The Empire did not prohibit privately owned vehicles from being armored & armed. They were realistic enough to realize that they could not cover every corner of the Galaxy all the time. Creating a wholesale prohibition of that nature would result in even more enforcement work to an already thin-stretched Imperial military not only having to deal with legitimate civilian protection needs now being considered criminal, but also the criminal element going to town on the civilian element that complied with the prohibition. Something to think about.

I've always wondered what the unmodified snowspeeder looked like, and not only did you deliver on an amazing model and backstory but you included like 4 other renders of different versions? Incredible! I love your videos so much, thank you for making them! Something I'd like to see is your take on prequel era ships like the ARC 170 or even some droid ships that would have been modified by scrappers in the era of the Empire, cuz I've always had a slight disconnect where a lot of the prequel designs have these rounded edges that aren't as common in original trilogy designs, and I'd like to see how you translate those designs into the world of the original trilogy.

Did you see the sandspeeder from LEGO? I think stuff from LEGO is always canon or atleast really really close to it.

Not everything, the rough shadow isnt canon anymore, but I'm very love the sandspeeder, the fins make him looks more cool

The sandspeeder is based on an old, unreleased Kenner toy.

Personally given the lore you created for the design I would say that the canopy should be the standard version over the windshield. This fits the idea of it being a rugged all terrain and work horse craft,as protection from the elements is something people doing those things want.

I always loved the Snowspeeder it's rugged and stout appearance always reminded me of the A-10 warthog(minus the giant gun)

I think the second hold down for the cannons are actually a bulkhead for side body storage, it would have the feel of a utility truck and since most basic tools are small some of the larger portable tools are useful to. perhaps the snow speeder also has an attachment for ligh duty power-tools to run off the "tow cable" slot. the tow cable is a standard attachment because the snow speeder is sometimes used as a wrenching vehicle. because of the moniker snow speeder I would believe that the reason for a stock reverse seat is so that the heating element for cold environments is simplified, I also think the hatch is stock because it is also a "rollbar" and is much heavier.

Now that is a cool concept and something to consider as a physical kitbash. Thanks
