I see these videos but wonder about spacing the flywheel and the starter

Same bolt pattern both on engine and transmission, besides the center hole bore... So lucky. I'm not so lucky in this case, lol. Thanks for informative video.

It looks professional! I have a question though, how did you ensure the engine and transmission were aligned? I saw the part where you put the adapter plate on both the transmission and engine to mark hole locations, were there any additional alignment steps? How did you align the crank shaft to the hole? I'm swapping a Nissan Leaf motor into a 93 Subaru Sambar. Other websites recommend

do you know where I can find an adapter plate for a 22r online ? I see you’re making a custom one this might be a dumb question but I’ve been searching for months and I had confidence someone on KZbin would know but by any chance would you know where ?

Yes, look up Kennedy engineering online. They have many many different adapter plates available for all kinds of engines. Also, if this is for a Subaru transmission, Subarugears (the company) makes adapter plates for all sorts of engines for these transmissions

great work. Also inspire me to swap my 1985 cressoda with ZZ series engine. how many the thickness of plate that you used?
@timshop27002 жыл бұрын
For this application, it was 1.228" thick

So you are adapting 2 metric mechanical items but still insitting on imperial measurements on the adaptor plate?

How do you account for the additional space of the adapter plate?
@timshop270010 ай бұрын
The thickness of the adapter plate was figured out first

@@timshop2700 Based on what though? An original engine/transmission mate doesn’t have that extra space, so what allows for an extra inch plus for an adapter, a thicker clutch? How did you calculate the thickness of the adapter?
@timshop270010 ай бұрын
@77magnuss I took a Subaru transmission and measured the point at which the input shaft rides in the pilot bearing. Then I measured where the flywheel sits on the block. After some messing around, adding, and subtracting, you come up with a necessary thickness for the adapter plate because of where the pilot bearing rides/input shaft location. Kind of a hard thing to explain

@@timshop2700 Ok. Yeah, probably easier to visual with parts in front of you. I’m considering a swap into a Porsche 944 and this is the step I’m not sure about, but obviously it can be done. Everyone who has done videos skips over the calculation of this. I’ve been trying to find something with the basic concept explained but so far I haven’t. Thanks

Could an automotive transmission be adapted to a motorcycle or sportbike engine? I imagine that this would be possible. However, I do not know how something like this could be done. Or who I need to talk to with this idea as
@JoeBoffman2 күн бұрын
Only if the engine originally had a divorced transmission. A lot of motorcycle engines have the transmission in the same casing.

Hi Tim, I plan to swap my volvo 940 B23 engine (non-turbo) with Volvo 850 2.5L engine (transverse position) and keep maintain the original 4 speeds transmission AW 03. Any technical recommendation or technical consideration for me? Thanks for your support
@timshop27002 жыл бұрын
Well the main things you should think about is how you will mate the engine and transmission together, engine mounts, cooling system, intake system, exhaust system, and how you plan on running the engine. (Wiring harness and ecu)

Try Kennedy Engineering. They have a whole list of engines and transmissions they can adapt to. If not them, you'll have to make your own following the advice of the youtuber: Modify Up
