nice job so far already. nice to have a cnc router on hand, but why not cut it out on your vinyl cutter and stick it on foto sensitive pcb, and put it under a uv light to expose. or draw it with a marker in the vinyl cutter (or inkjet printer) onto glossy paper and iron it on normal pcb (see tested) or better. draw/print on fully transparant (overhead-projector) film. and expose on pho-sensitive pcb. so you can etch it. you like to fiddle arround with pcb, so i just suggested some options. that does not say you have to do it ofcource. nice job Michael.👍

Good suggestions Jan. I used to print out an heat transfer onto PCB before etching before I had the CNC. I wonder if normal vinyl would be suitable as mask for etching? Never tried the UV sensitive versions, might do so one day.

thanks buddy really usefull information.i have a question how can i bypass Zortrax m200 z height sense.??my nozzle keeps diving into the bed.

I'm surprised you didn't use auto bed leveling on the CNC. Just use 1 wire to ground the copper and an alligator clip on the engraver bit connected to the Z-probe connector on your RAMPS(or equivalent) board. You should also use a waste board underneath the board and use some clear double-sided 3M Scotch tape to hold it on. That way, not only can you use the mill to drill all the holes properly for you first time through, you can use a flat end mill bit to carve the boards out for you, no need for a special saw.

My machine came with a Chinese Mach3 compatible USB board, but I replaced that with a Planet CNC mainboard. planet-cnc.com/ I know it can use a sensor to set the z height but I don't think it does auto bed levellng. I agree it would be better to drill the holes in place on the router.

Since your hardware can sense Z-height, grbl control software can map the contours of the copper clad board. The open source software I use is grblControl, but there are other alternatives such as OpenCNCPilot and ChiliPeppr, the latter of which can also be used remotely, eg. with a raspberry pi and a tablet for jogging ect.

I've tried to make some homemade boards time to time and always have trouble with drilling the through holes. I had even set up a drill press with a rotary tool and my depth perception must just suck.

That's why I make the hole centres so small. It puts a little divot in that helps alig the drill bit tip. Usually I do this on a drill press which helps my accuracy. It I was going to do a large batch, I would mill a grid of boards and also drill the holes on the machine too.

You can use Fusion 360 to do cam. It's free, and works very well with DXF files -- you just need to create a 3D object, but that's pretty trivial.

Now you've got to change the name on the front of the printer. 😀

this for he really needs the vinyl cutter. lol maybe the white text will come of with lacker-thinner. and hopefully spair the black powdercoating. try on an unseen corner.

I am definitely planning a sticker. Didn't think of using a solvent to remove factory graphics, that is great suggestion.

carefull. and try the solvent on a non exposed place to check that the black powdercoat stays on.but i think that the white (zortax) text will come of though. or else just blend in some flat black paint. but you'll think about something thats for sure.

Did you ever get this finished? I've been tasked with making 4 of these rotten machines usable by my local print shop!

It prints but I still hate the extruder design. I think I'd like to make this Bowden.

Wanhao duplicator 6 parts might work. Seems to be a clone of the z200.
