Needed a new desk for my computer stuff, made it out of some MDF. Super simple with minimal hardware needed :D
Thinking about painting it in the same color as the wall. What do you think?
Hope you like it.
Ask if anything
I also got an Amazon affiliate link, and that is super cool.
So press the link below if you are going to buy anything :D

A well thought out build, with nice surface details. I like the 'natural' appearance of MDF on a well made project like your desk, so I would've probably finished it with some sort of clear-coat, like amber Shellac.

Thank you :D I did use almost the same thing to finish this, a acrylic clear coat of some sort, glad u liked the video, have a great 2024 :D

Hi, thank for sharing. Seeing you use screw for end grain Mdf give me confidence to use screw ( and not dowel or cam which take much longer time)

hi there and thanks, just remember to predrill to avoid splitting ( i am bad at that often) But anyway, it is the glue that holds it togheter

brilliant! Love the way you made the draws under the surface. Very neat. Could you perhaps update the description to include the tools you used. I notice the drill but don't know what clamps to get, what glue, PVA presumably etc. A really great desk and cute child too!

@FlokrollProjects
@FlokrollProjects 3 жыл бұрын
I used 3,5 x 45 10Torx screws for the most part, I do love the thin torx screws, but almost everything will work if you predrill. Always predrill :D

Hi! Great video! Also planning a table. What fasteners are best for MDF 24 mm thickness?
@FlokrollProjects
@FlokrollProjects 4 жыл бұрын
Hello, sorry for late answer. I would go with some thin screws and glue, the screws will add some strength but are only there to keep the parts in place while the glue dryes

I bought mdf too, when am trying to screw through the L support metal frame which is attached to wall. The screw doesn't hold MDF and comes out. Any idea.
@FlokrollProjects
@FlokrollProjects 3 жыл бұрын
Hmm, try to predrill and or use a smaller screw, or a selfdrilling metal screw

No bondo or woodfiller :D Just screws where you cannot see them after assembly (and the a couple of visible ones, but i countersunk thoose and put them in the same distance from the sides)

Nice Build! Just one question regarding MDF. Does it hold well over time? (now that the desk is some months ago) I'm also considering using MDF for a Desk. Thanks!
@FlokrollProjects
@FlokrollProjects 4 жыл бұрын
Hi there and thanks. Mdf holds very well over time. U just need to support it well, the sandwitch structure i have made does this pretty good. But a single sheet of mdf will sag if the span is to long and not supported byt cross bracers or similar.

Do you have any plans? What was your inspiration?
@FlokrollProjects
@FlokrollProjects 5 жыл бұрын
No plans, but the video should be ok to follow. Ask if anything is unclear. Regarding measurements, it depends on the person that will use it, and the placement and etc. A good starting point is to use measurements from existing desk, e.g from Ikea and such :D. When it comes to inspiration everything goes, don't think any particular pieces was the inspiration. But i wanted to make something where everything was visible, No hidden support or such.
