Tip for working with mdf: polyurethane glue works best for mdf since it has no water content to swell the grain. Cool build!

Thank you so much for this video! I am trying to build a "built-in" cabinet in my office closet and this video gave me so much clarity on how to plan. Also using the dowels for reinforced screw holes is genius. Probably adds years and years of life to the piece. Thank you!

Hello RJ, I rarely work with MDF, but I will be sure to remember your tip with the dowels for use with fasteners. It's always rewarding to make something for the nonpaying customers at home, isn't it? 😃

MDF is not my favourite , for this project it was the best. It was really nice doing a build for the little one. Thanks heaps for watching.

Looks great. Really like the idea of adding in the dowel where you are going to place the fixings. Is that a Dowelmax?

Thanks champ, I dont like screwing into MDF, so putting in dowels eased my nerves. As for the jig its just a cheap one from Timbecon.

Add a touch of pva to your paint for your first coat of paint and that stops mdf edges going rough 👍

The one I am using is made by Milescraft , super cheap and super handy. It is a go to tool for me. Thanks

The dowel additions for taking screws is a good idea,,I too do not really touch mdf , do not like the stuff. Seems to look okay for a while but things can go wrong after a while. Its like material used not to last and look great for a short while

How did the paint finish look on the edges ?

Really good, just sand them super smooth and I just used a water based undercoat and enamel and it turned out great. It is that simple.

Nice project, but not for amateurs. You must have tools over 5K to do this result.
