I was going to buy a doll house but my granddaughter (she’s autistic and 7) reminded me that we have STUFF, and we can make a house. I watch this video first then about 3 more. I came back to this one because the construction would stand up to being played with much better than a few other videos I saw. Thanks for the great ideas.

Cute crocked house build. Great to see some freeform building too. Sometimes I need to remember not everything needs to be measured and precise. Pre used cardboard is a much underestimated resource sometimes. I like the thing of using drywall compound and glue to texture and harden the surfaces. I used PVA and bonding plaster to coat the exterior walls on Harriet's workshop. The bonding plaster is soft enough to allow me to scratch the mortar lines in to form dressed stone. It is very effective. I have also used the same mix to do rough ground cover on her garden railway.

I've recently come across another artist that reminded me of you! If you haven't seen him before you should check out Studson Studio. He makes fantasy builds from video game references or movies etc. A lot of his techniques are similar to these in the cardboard house, and I think they would often transfer well both ways. He uses stuff from the recycling bin, mostly, and just like this cardboard house it's cool to see how things become transformed into new things. I first saw him making the Wizard's Tower from Stardew Valley, and it came out BEAUTIFULLY! The shingle technique could go well on a roof like this one. Not that this one has anything wrong with it! Just that it's nice to have options to choose from.

Yet again, another fabulous project. I bet your daughter is just thrilled that you can do all these amazing things. As far as the tower roof is concerned, I think it looks strange because it is too small around and it needs to be taller. I absolutely love your concept and I thank you for doing it, as the kids used to say, "You are the bomb." LoL

Haha I remember that phrase! Thank you so much ;) Thank you for the suggestions on the tower... I will probably be messing with it a little bit later today trying to work it out. My son is acutally more into my art at the moment lol! He came in and gave the house his thumbs up approval the other day😄

Absolutely love this - very effective, and quirky. The initial colour scheme looks good too. Maybe the dragon you made would look good on the roof of this one as it is a very unique shape. I like the tower, would perhaps diamond pane it - which would close it in a bit more, and perhaps either have a circular bookcase in the very middle, so people could walk round and open the books and read in daylight? Or a really lush greenhouse effect where maybe some of the vine/plants have escaped and are now taking over part of the roof and side of the house? B & Q have opened in some areas in the UK - I can see dry wall filler becoming a premium product now.

Funny you mention the dragon because I have a couple extra that are half way in progress... I can see if they would fit on the roof well. Everyone needs a dragon on the roof right? Great ideas thank you!!

@@BentleyHouseMinis I do like the idea of adding a half floor in the tower with a helical stair case for a 2-level library! (Book nerd here; no such thing as too many books. Ignore my roommate.) History channel has a series on YT called Castle about the 25-yr construction process of a new Medieval castle in France (experiential archeology FTW). You could reproduce the stone coiling stair by cutting a circle with an attached wedge in 2- or 3-thickness cardboard (whatever suits your scale better). Stack the circles while offsetting the wedges. Stone stair with central column, Bam! To help keep the arrangement straight, you could pierce a small hole in the centre of the circles and thread a bamboo skewer through as you are gluing them together :-)

Cardboard boxes make excellent and very strong dollhouses. Did you know you can use thin super glue to strengthen cardboard. I also use card stock to cover the outer skin of the dollhouse! Great job!🤪👍🏻

I didn't know that but it makes sense! Thank you for the info because I am sure that will help if I am working on something a little smaller in cardboard that I want to be a little flatter! Thanks Victoria!
