Making a dovetailed juice crate using Kuldeep Singhs metal pantorouter. It's made of spruce which was stained green using thinned wall paint. 4:39 that casting is really soft. Didn't feel different then cutting wood. No damage was done to the bit.

The lack of dust collection is the only thing holding me back from getting the metal pantorouter. Man what a nice machine.

+Jay Bates There's dust collection coming and it will be backward compatible for old and newer Hybrid PantoRouters! Effective dust collection was a much more difficult task than originally thought and it took Kuldeep many tries to get it right, but nothing is impossible, especially when Matthias and Kuldeep put their brilliant engineering minds together on a project. Stay tuned to the Forum on HybridPantoRouter.com. Also, sign in to the Contact page and we'll send an email when it's ready. We only send emails when there's something new in PantoRouter world, and we NEVER share your email. www.hybridpantorouter.com Thanks!

Beautifully done Cosmas. The backer board is a terrific idea, and your indexing technique opens the door to limitless potential. Thank you for explaining the adjustment procedure too. It's super simple to get a good fit and once the template is set, you can cut a gazillion pins and every one will fit perfectly. Excellent work, and thank you!

my first ones weren't that good. It takes a bit of practise to controll the router and go slow enough.

clever aligning to the backer board. i never think to fasten down the backer board myself. was wondering what use a box of these proportions would be until the end.

To avoid tearout, use a strip of painter's tape over the area while cutting the pins/tails. The tape will act as a baker board and prevent tearout. Peal off the uncut portion of the tape when finished cutting the pins/tails.

Hey try using tape on top of were you cut the joints. It might work better to avoid chiping.

I really love way way the box turned out. I'm wondering why you use construction adhesive instead of Carpenters wood glue.
@CosmasBauer
@CosmasBauer 8 жыл бұрын
Glad you liked it :) It was some really shitty adhesive that I wanted to get rid of. For this application it is strong enough.
@tiitsaul9036
@tiitsaul9036 8 жыл бұрын
very cool. if the work piece sandwiched between two boards when cutting dovetails, would it not eliminate tear out?
@CosmasBauer
@CosmasBauer 8 жыл бұрын
Maybe. But that is not really possible because the router can not rise high enough to go aver another piece of wood. But letting the router stop eliminates the problem.
@sidgar1
@sidgar1 8 жыл бұрын
Cool build, although construction adhesive was probably overkill. Most of the strength comes from the joint. Wood glue would have been sufficient.
@CosmasBauer
@CosmasBauer 8 жыл бұрын
This glue is really not good. I just wanted to get rid of it so I used it for this application. I'm pretty sure it is not as strong as normal woodglue.
@n8guy
@n8guy 8 жыл бұрын
+Cosmas B Agreed. Not as strong as yellow glue, total mess, and gums up sandpaper. I admire your desire to not let it go to waste, as I'm sure that wasn't a very easy decision to make.
