This is the best video of tying a button knot that I have watched, and I have watched a bunch of them.

This is an excellent video. You are an excellent communicator. Your setup and argument for the video was really well articulated, the instructions were very clear and well paced, the sound and video quality is great and from a laymans perspective, you really seem to know your stuff. This is where KZbin really shines. Great work.

Easiest way to knot the soft shackle head. Successful to make the soft shackle head in second try. Thanks so much...

Dimond knot removed the 2 extra strands that go through the stem, this makes the weak point weaker by making the bend radius tighter. Button knot is ~25-50٪ stronger in the noose.

where do you fine large diameter dyneema?

I just added an amazon link to 7/16" dyneema rope in the description or you can try go2marine.com; they have many more lengths and sizes.

That 1st mark is not and cannot be 2"!!! I think I can extrapolate and make it right. Thanks for sharing.

You'll have to take it up with my Stanley measuring tape ;-) Not sure why this measurement didn't work for you, but there could be some variation due to rope diameter and weave configuration. I made 4 of these shackles using these measurements, but all were 7/16, 12 strand Amsteel Blue Dyneema.

There is a product called cold shrink. You could get it at electrical supply houses. You just pull the center of it out and it shrinks around weather, on rope or electrical wiring. I use it for real seats on my fishing poles. It’s nicer than hot shank ,thicker, and has rubber surface

@@Roger-og2tyWow, I just watched a video of this cold shrink product. Very impressive; I had never heard of this before. Thanks for the tip.

Very Nice! You can avoid all that tape too. Use a folded 2mm wire. kzbin.info/www/bejne/eoqpamV5m7F3lZI
