Love it! You go girl. I noticed that you didnt put your zipper in using a straight measurment, but rather adjusting it to where you would need it to hug your body, I didn't know that this was possible! Could you explain how to achieve this? Not installing the actual zipper, but rather having it help with the fit, if that makes sense.
@MaddieLynn4 жыл бұрын
Yes!! I use that method for all my zippers, I usually make the adjustment by trying it on, pinning it to myself, and making marks wither the fit curves...I might made a video in the future :)

Gorgeous! The drama!sleeves work so well with the ruffles on the bodice, it complements well I think. Speaking as someone who has collected faaar too much of the stuff (my magpie brain has had far too much control over my wallet), this looks like silk dupioni (also called dupion) to me. Here in the UK I know there was a trend a while back in silk dupioni curtains, however the trend didn't last as silk degrades quite quickly if kept in direct sunlight (as curtains often are). This is relevant as it means that, if you didn't pre-wash the fabric and the curtains weren't washed by the prior owner, washing could cause the silk to shrink (not necessarily by much, but enough that it may cause puckering on the bodice). If you have any left over, I recommend doing a wash/shrink test to see, and a burn test ofc to see if it is really is silk (looks like it to me though). Dry cleaning is an option, but my experience with dry cleaners is they are reluctant to work without a care label given the chance of damaging the garment, and, sadly, even dry cleaning can cause some shrinkage particularly the first time. For washing at home handwashing is obviously recommended for minimal impact, however, washing dupioni in water for the first time softens it a little, taking away a little of the shine in exchange for more drape (which I personally like so all mine gets washed that way). If washing at home, be wary of accidentally creasing the fabric as tight weave silks, including some dupioni, can develop permanent crease-scars that way due to how silk stretches when wet, but doesn't stretch back. As for the difference between silk dupioni and (silk) taffeta (there is far more synthetic taffeta out there then dupioni), mostly it's in the look; dupioni has a very textured look with a lot of slub, and is commonly made from two colours, one for the warp, one for the weft; in this case, black and bronze, which gives it that gorgeous metallic look. Other then that, taffeta is slightly crisper, and smoother, dupioni is slightly rougher due to being made with raw fibres. But over all they are very similar.
@MaddieLynn4 жыл бұрын
Someone else just mentioned it’s Dupioni and I’m glad you mentioned it too! Definitely need to brush up on my textile knowledge from college :)
