I'd consider bolting on a braided ground strap between the lid and box just for extra insurance. Also I've found the raw steel of those boxes rusts quite rapidly. I wonder if some grease would prevent that and not interfere too much with the connection. (Maybe noalox as used on aluminum wire connections, but even that isn't all that conductive.)

Please see my comment above but I had commented before I saw your particular comment which is very interesting. I had asked above if a conductive thermal paste would work well that might also actually seal in the the steel itself to prevent corrosion and rust.

you don't need to remove the rubber seal to make it, all you have to do is lay silver paper around the edge of the box. and secure the inside of the box with either cardboard or old foam that you can cut and remember to cover the top also inside the box. it is not at all necessary to destroy the case completely and it does not have to be sanded at all, the amo box itself is faryday safe . and by leaving the rubber seal in place, the amo box is both EMP and 100% waterproof😉 . (it's an old piece that doesn't fit that you have to take out the rubber strip, and you don't have to destroy an amo box with an angle grinder or anything else, you just make it much more leaky and not EMP safe)

It's probably a more expensive option and it might only be useful for if you're going to seal one of these cans up and bury them, but could you also use a conductive thermal paste on the seal between the cover and the case itself?

I have never seen conductive paste. Is it like a RTV but with conductive poverties, or similar to a anti seize compound. The can is probably more expensive but there is great durability.

Why aren't you using the 'Resistance' function on your meter .. instead of the diode function?

I was not looking for an actual resistance measurement but just continuity in general. The diode function gives that tone which is good for the video.

real continuity is 000...so looks like your not getting it...
