I love this pen, it is so cool. I just finished one for myself with a homemade acrylic blank and it really turned out nice. Thanks WoodNWhimsies for your innovation.

at 6:19 I see that the lower section is the same length as the glued up section. Since the bling took the place of wood on the brass tube what happened to the space for the center ring? The refill will be too long ! ! ! I guess it's just a little shorter, but I keep 7mm tubes to put the bling on. I suppose being an amateur gives me more time.
@reforgedcriterion14715 жыл бұрын
My thoughts exactly.. Except this changed nothing about the refill. He just took some of the headroom out of the top of the pen. You don't need all of that pen up there, we just make the two halves the same length for symmetry. Try making a shorty slimline sometime! Measure out exactly how much top tube you need and cut it short and give it a try. Honestly you could make a short fatty pen that looks like a mini gatsby if you wanted. In fact I'm starting a whole line of pens just like that starting with my own bullet pens made from scratch starting with 223 casings (they're so tiny!)

I loved the shine on it. Love how simple the steps are. I'm new at pen turning and sometimes it gets confusing with so many tecniques.

terrific result, ...but why did you dissemble the spindle and put a spacer in before sanding. Are you not concerned about rounding the edges of both the wood and the bling, and messing up the fit. Didn`t get that at all. Do like the polishing system. Going to make one of those.

Thanks for sharing your technics, personally I would prefer a video without the music and with a commentary instead, it would make the video much more personal and authentic. At least that is my opinion. Thanks. Have a great day!

Made two pens using this technique tonight after watching this video. Loved it! Thanks for sharing.

You could have saved a lot of work by just gluing the acrylic to the burl 1st. Then cut to length ,drill and glue the tube/barrel trim. Nice outcome though.

That is so cool. Simple and elegant. I like the innovation.

I have a lot of acrylic offcuts. When I start making wood pens I will find a use for a lot of them. I also will make some cuff-links from acrylic offcuts. Waste not want not as my ol' Mum used to say.

Oh crap! I much prefer videos where the presenter actually talks instead of music and text. You ruined your own video! It's impossible to read and watch what you're doing at the same time. 👎👎👎👎👎👎

Procedimento errato in quanto se il taglio non è perfettamente a 90° larasatura verra obliquò, quindi la rasatura dovrà essere eseguita dopo l'incoraggio.

Don`t see the point in spraying the activator on the joint after you have pressed them together . Surely better to spray the activator on the bling , THEN,, bring them together

What a beautiful pen great music a very enjoyable video. Can you tell me how to pick some music that doesn't break the copyright laws that i can play on my videos please ?
@oo0Spyder0oo8 жыл бұрын
the blank you turned and trimmed away the wood to expose the barrel, why not just shorten the blank on the mitre saw or bandsaw then when you turn it, it will be the right length? No need to remove the excess with the skew.

Great idea - wow ! One thing I did different is cut one wood-end at 45 degrees and same angle on one end of my plastic block, glued and double-clamped this part, drilled through as one piece, squared and turned as usual. Both styles look wonderful. Thanks for the idea.

In my experience I have found that if you sand to 12,000 grit with the micro-mesh pads and then do a final polish with a plastic polish (Hut Ultra-Gloss plastic polish) you will be hard pressed to see the difference.

My question is this; When you glued the tube in the bluish/green blank it looked wayyyy bigger then the one you turned with the rest of the pen. When did you cut it down?
@DaddyHaxTV9 жыл бұрын
He didn't glue it into the acrylic piece. It was just held in place to keep the barrel trimmer square.
