your firing mechanism reminds me a lot of how rail guns/coil guns work. magnets (or in your case vacuums) being toggled on an off pulling the projectile forward to accelerate it. very cool how games can emulate reality sometimes

There needs to be a prime-able bomb. I was thinking it should become primed when it's set on fire. Until it is primed, it does not explode on contact at all, but when it is, obviously it behaves like a normal bomb.

Hey! Love seeing you problem solve but I cannot help dying inside every time I see you build things and completely change their mechanics from their real life counter parts. I liked the shotgun having a "bolt" as well as a spring based magazine, like this pistol. But I was disappointed a little when the firing on was also carried out by the bolt, instead of a controlled explosion. I do understand that video games don't always allow realism, especially something as nuanced as how firearms operate, but you can still try for the next best thing. I like the vaccuum blocks on this one because they are a little closer to realism. Calling the nuclear bomb build a nuclear bomb made no sense. Although I would have cracked up a little if it was based on trying to stretch a block apart so hard it would have glitched out and destroyed everything! With all of this said, I love your videos. I just think a hint of realism makes these builds much more interesring. I loved the bomb based engine for that, as it is probably the closest thing you could have to an actual combustion engine in Besiege I wonder if you could be able to create revolver action firearm?

But is it possible to make a pistol using explosion propelled ballasts? And also kind of like a pistol, have a casing that takes the brunt of the explosion damage, and a suspension piece that sits behind it and triggersan opening on the side to eject the broken/spent casing.

The wheel conveyer belt can work, if you make the wheels farther apart. The bomb gets kind of wedged in between them and the friction picks it up. I used it to make a reloading catapult for my inconspicuous death cube.

if you want the trigger to have a softer spring, you can add a hinge or swivel to the suspension block to allow the brace to rotate, the way you have it set up in this seems like it's trying to bend the suspension more than it is trying to compress it (I've had this issue a lot)

You have invented a railgun in besiege. They work practically the same way but use magnets instead of vaccums. Railguns are probably the most destructive form of a projectile weapon, so you are onto something

the problem is bullet in real life didn't explode on impact. you made wrong decision about using a bomb as projectile. this is more like grenade launcher than pistol. but irl grenade detonated by its own fuse that lit after being fired for delayed explosion (like 3 seconds timer) to make it safer for the shooter so it will not blow yourself up to pieces.

What would have happened if you detached the upper slide of the gun from the barrel, attach the vacuums to it, and allow it to slide freely? So as they suck the bomb forward, they also suck themselves backwards. Then like a real gun, use a spring-loaded feeder to force a bomb upwards when the slide is at rearward travel, and a spring system to bring the slide forward again.

The proper term for such a gun would be a gauss gun I think. well gauss guns are suposed to work with coils instead of those vacuum thinggy but close enough.
