Making a Homebrew RPG Campaign in 1 DAY

To celebrate hitting 10k subscribers I am challenged myself to build a campaign world in a single day mostly using online generators to show you what resources I use!

All the programs you recommend are mouthwatering. at the moment I'm crafting the world of Botan and it lives in about 50 google docs and my head may explode. I really get held back on city and town development but your videos on that really helped me out. I just want to thank you. I just found your channel. This video far outshines dozens of other campaign/setting/open-world-building videos for giving a concise AND thorough outline of practical topics to fill out and links to generators you used to quickly do that yourself, and even the road blocks you found yourself hitting. Anto, I got into this about 2 years ago now, and quickly found myself wanting to try running homebrew. Your OneNote tips gave me the tools I needed to really work through all the ideas in my head and make them coherent. I started DMing homebrew games, taking advice everywhere I could find it. Now, I’m a paid DM at a local store, with players praising my work, and first time DMs looking to me for advice. The store owner has been building his own campaign for literally over 100 players, and I’ve been helping him set it up in OneNote. It feels like the circle is coming to a close. Your one video, then the others, and all your advice helped start me down a road of enjoyment that I have now spread and shared with so many others, who are in turn sharing and spreading it themselves. The people you have reached through me alone is at least dozens, and I can say that is likely true for so many of your now 10,000 subscribers. Anto, just found your video(great stuff btw). I find my approach to world building quite similar to yours. I flesh it out as I go. Though I let my players "make" their villains. I prepare different factions with their goals (be it on a city scale, region scale, or world scale). I present things happening in the world and let the players actions dictate the consequences, not long after - they are making their own friends and allies, as well enemies and "villains", I find that doing it like so also enhances the sand-box feel. These are some nice tools too!

10,000 subs is a fantastic milestone! And this is a pretty great campaign especially considering the short time limit. A very compelling start, and the world already feels like it's fleshed out just from the few small details you've thrown in. My only real concern about this method is how many different things you had to hop back and forth around in to get it complete, but overall it turned out very nicely.

There is some overlap in the tools. Donjon, for example, has name generators, town information generators, and can make maps. But I wanted to showcase more resources, and a lot o the sites I showed might only do one thing, but they do it incredibly well.

WA and LK accomplish the same things and are both amazing, but approach worldbuilding differently. WA is very granular and detailed and can help inspire you with it's prompts and form fields. LK is super clean and just stays out of the way to allow you to worldbuild in the way you want.

WA has been amazing with the prompts, especially with this being only my second HB. I look forward to seeing how well it holds up with the campaign as we start tomorrow! I will definitely be looking into LK and your video on it. Already moving onto your video on politics and city states. This will help me flesh out the cities a little more prior to the inspiration provided by the PCs.
