I love this idea! Side note: I'm so late to the party on this but I finally watched the Haunting of Hill House and my mind was blown. Holy hell, the cinematography, the writing, the acting, the monologues, the artful reveal of the story...woah.

It truly is beautiful, one of my favourite shows of all time. I love it so much that I'm excited for the follow up season, but also kind of want them to just leave it where it ended in season 1.

@@MustaineIsGod Season 2 most likely will not be following the same characters. The director mentioned wanting to do an anthology. Possibly following previous families who lived in Hill House.

repurposing a shirt graphic as the back patch is such a genius idea omg. I'm still waiting for a denim jacket that fits me properly to show up in the thrift store so I can customize it too. thank you for sharing the process, love ya 💕

I love the idea of repurposing a t-shirt graphic into a backpatch! Now if only I had a cute graphic tee that was too small.

The wonderful thing about DIYing a denim jacket is that it's so casual nothing has to be perfect. In fact, crooked patches, weird stitching, etc adds to the character of the piece.

im a metalhead and my first Battle vest i used an old Metallica ride the lighting crop top for the backpatch , was actually my first ever metal tee that i got from forever 21 when i first got into metal. my current main (metal) battlevest i started as a horror vest but it was taking way too long to find patches i liked without resorting to the internet so i scrapped that and started loading it with death metal and stuff. i currently have 4 battlevests but they are still all metal.

OMG yes. My husband bought a denim jacket (in the style of a motorcycle jacket) off Angry Young & Poor for me to put a bunch of band patches on for him. That thing was THICCCCC!! And It had a bunch of hidden pockets I had to try to avoid sewing shut. Took me hours just for a few patches and I had to use a thimble & a pair of pliers for EACH STITCH!! He's lucky I love him so much. lol My fav horror movies are Trick R' Treat & Tokyo Gore Police.

I hope you get to share other diy stuff, maybe adding on to this or another jacket. I am actually about to start making my first horror themed vest (I already have a few others, thrash/death/black metal bands). 😊 You already mentioned my favorite movie, John Carpenter's The Thing (followed closely by The Howling). That is a great graphic for the back! This is a great way to show your love of horror. Years back I cut the graphic from a t-shirt, and used a bunch of safety pins to attach it to the back of a denim shirt. I wanted to use red embroidery thread, but misplaced it- so I improvised. There are just too many awesome horror movies in existence to pick just one! Here's some that i love that often get overlooked: High Tension (2003), The Pact (2012), Sinister (2012)

I’d be interested to hear how you enjoy horror films as a highly sensitive person as i’m also a HSP and I can barely listen to scary music without getting upset 🤷🏻‍♀️ And gore makes me feel physically ill and shaky :( however I love anything creepy but wholesome like Addams family, Coraline & tim burton. I liked this video nevertheless!

Omg the whole cut up T-shirt for a jacket backing is a great idea! I have this old drawstring i got from Disneyworld that I used almost every day and it was falling apart but I loved the dragon design on it (it was from the China section of Epcot) and I just got a jean jacket so I think I might sew it on there now 😬

Using embroidery thread instead of sewing thread is totally normal! Lots of people use it to sew things on in a decorative way, like with a blanket stitch or a whip stitch, for example.

I just came back from watching Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark!! It was soooo good. My favorite horror movie of all time is probably Hereditary. I’m literally on Etsy right now looking for cheap pins and patches to make my own spoooy jacket (I’ve had the jacket for years, but I don’t like how the pins on it aren’t cohesive). I might just do some painting on it later too... I feel like if I had the money to, I’d make so many different themed denim jackets! Okay, sorry for the long comment- but I love it! It looks so rad xx

You could sew the back in place and refine it by making like a diagonal spiral stitch all around it with embroidery floss. That way it will look like you did half circles all around it and it will stay better in place.
