Fun fact. Hippos don't swim they run along the bottom of the water! They are too dense to float!

Hippos are my favorite animal; I even have a hippo tattoo! Regarding the “gross” behavior you saw by the lake: that’s a territorial behavior! Basically the same as a big cat spraying a tree. Also, hippo dung is full of nutrients and helps support aquatic ecosystems by feeding microorganisms, which are in turn eaten by insects and small fish, then larger fish and birds, and so on! Even people are aided by this behavior, as the fish can be a vital resource (just be careful not to fish too close to the hippos).

Hippos both in zoos and in the wild do like to defecate in the water, maybe it would be a good idea to add some water plants to help with the filtration and cleanliness of the water. Plus, the plants will be happy to have some awesome nutrients!

I would love to see a WOLF 🐺 habitat in the large patch of land you weren’t sure what to do with in the Europe section. As they have been hunted to extinction in Western Europe and are only slowly starting to come back! And they are such amazing animals in so many ways! It would be great to see them get some love! 😁 and they need a big habitat as well 😅
