Jessica's silhouette is so interesting to me cuz it's shaped as an hourglass, but not through making the hips bigger, instead the waist is impossibly small. Her hips are pretty normal sized, even small to the rest of her body, it's just the tiny wasp waist and large bust that gives the look, it's a really interesting unique character design with this elongated look that's only possible in fiction. Rambling aside the costume looks great! Would be perfect for live action Jessica Rabbit

The thing I find interesting about her design is that she still has the normal female abdomen instead of it being flat. It's just her waist is impossibly small.

Apparently the girl who played Judy from white Christmas had this incredibly small waist, I don’t even know the measure but it was almost cartoonish how it looked

@@_Peridot_ marilyn monroe had a thin waist compared to the rest of her body. Interestingly though is modern women's body shape has changed and no its not Weight gain persay its more the bone shape. It would be hard for girls today 😪 to fit into a typical dress like marilyn monroe wore.

Speaking as a drag artist, you killed it! Also, as an aside, when I do wear padding (rarely, to be fair) I 100% also do the slightly amazed, wierd slappy punchy thing...🤣
@MichiaMakes
@MichiaMakes 2 жыл бұрын
@Johnathan Johnson: what do you use for flesh shading over padding and where do you get it?? “Help me Obi-Wan Kenobe. You’re my only hope!” I’ve seen the very lovely silicone female hips, but I’m fatally allergic to latex. I’m not willing to risk my life for a Halloween costume. 😳🤦🏻‍♀️ I am also looking for something more *cough, cough* cost effective
@tokki2901
@tokki2901 2 жыл бұрын
@@MichiaMakes for me, when I worked as a drag queen, I usually layer 2-3 semi transparent thights/stockings. The very first layer I usually wear the most opaque one thats closest to my skin and the last 2 layers I use nude/skin colour preferably a bit glossy to mimic skin thats highlighted by body oil. Because of the layered stockings/thights, your pad also will look smoother. But just be aware that with this technique, you basically adding more layers, hence the legs and hips might look bigger. If you are someone that like a very understated look, maybe 2 layers are enough, but if you really want that over the top that cant be real look, get 3-4 layers (my drag mother always use 5 layers because she likes extravagant silhouette, I prefer 3 just because its too hot, I live in tropic country).

@clairepettie
@clairepettie 2 жыл бұрын
@@dissonanceparadiddle Definitely! I can actually offer a tip for your top half if it helps - a lot of drag queens/transvestites/nb dressers, etc... will look for strapless bras that can handle a lot of padding at plus-size stores like Torrid, their strapless ones have a good variety of sizes/cups and are sturdy. If you have a small rib cage, lingerie places that cater to extreme figures, like Frederick's of Hollywood, are also good places to find strapless bras that will support an extreme hourglass shape.

You did such an amazing job creating the silhouette! Maybe you already know, but padding was how an hourglass figure was achieved in many historical styles as well . Corsets were padded wherever to create the shape the wearer (or designer) wanted to achieve. It used to be an integral part of creating the right silhouette, tightlacing was extremely rare and unhealthy (And people were aware of this at a pretty early point in corsetry) not to mention uncomfortable. Padding was and is an easy solution to emphasize part of the figure and though it's used less now in mainstream fashion it still has a big role in shaping jackets, and indeed, undergarments.

It looks amazing! You nailed the silhouette! Actually it is very similar to what women did back in the late 19th century (in a more subtle way however 😆)

@@bubaaaaaaaaa keep at it, it gets easier! Crocheting is also very fast compared to most knitting projects, I made a basic skirt in a couple of days - a bigger project would only take a few weeks (i'm talking weekends and evenings, not 8 hours a day haha)

Another amazing video, i am getting into cosplay and you've helped a lot with figuring out how to build the right silhouette. Also, i love recycling and have been too nervous to go to a proper thrift store, so thread up was nice, always good to have a sponsor you can believe in.
