Very cool to see this lock brought back into service. Chubb have used the fish symbol for a very long time, often it is just the fish symbol with nothing else on the lock showing where it was made, cheers. Thanks for this video

A second hand safe company had me make keys to a few of these - very nice locks. There is another version of this one that I had not seen before which was 12 levers and had 2 bolt throw plates in the stack.

6:15 That actually does make sense. Your lock is in the open position right now. If the lock is key-retaining (most safe locks are) this is what prevents the curtain turning far enough to remove the key. 18:30 I usually measure each of the levers. I take 1 lever and set it on top of the bolt and raise it to the correct height, then measure from the keyhole to the belly of the lever. Do this for each lever in turn. Then mark all of these heights on the key blank. This gives me the best results. It also allows me to make a card to cut keys on our Silca Prima Laser.

Always wondered how this was done. I had my local locksmith make a key recently. A lot if skill there very good.

I've never made a lever lock key, but have 2 to do. Could you not use one of those makeup keys think there called, with sliding pins , to impression the stack.

The tools most likely won't fit this lock, its too old and the wrong pin size

You would be Amazed at what good crims know and do. kerry packer lost 4 million in gold Bars out of his chubb safe on the 9th floor in his office just one little cut in the door lucky to be 3 inches long and a tiny burn mark on the rug thats it and gone never caught. Packers personal Secretary was sleeping with one of Sydney's best safe breakers the old pillow talk coppers new he did it and others but they couldn't pinch him not enough evidence funny world. My favorite was the Hatton garden safty deposit robbery 5 old safe breakers pulled of the biggest robbery in uk history in 2015 wheely bins just full to the top with loot and diamonds it was the main Diamond sink area to 300 hundred million pounds plus and they only got back a quarter of it so far. I guess it's there for when they get out. Long service really..lol. They wouldn't know how much no-one tells whats in there safty deposit box's what a job the old boys ..lol

Makes you realise just how good those old time-served safe and vault guys were. Assuming this got drilled because some idiot lost the key, the tradesman would have drilled the container, manipulated the lock, stripped it, scrambled the levers, cut a new key, repaired the lock case and plugged the hole in the door. If he was really good, he would have touched up the paint as well. All on site, all with hand tools, and very probably wearing a suit and tie. It beggars belief. You're dead right, this knowledge and skill level is being lost. I noticed no anti pick notches on the levers or bolt stump. That's weird. And for a reason I won't mention publically, although it shares some similarities with the Ross 700 it would be a much easier pick (or at least, it would be much easier to build a picking tool for it, same thing.) For those reasons I think this was probably a pretty bottom of the range Chubb lock but I have to confess I've never seen it before. Thanks for posting this video, it was excellent.
