Making a leather apron with a chinese patcher sewing machine.

First big project using my chinese patcher sewing machine. A leather apron for use in my workshop. Wanted to make something useful as I practiced with the sewing machine. My ability to sew in a straight line got better as the project went on. Materials, veg tanned kangaroo leather, Kevlar thread, craft glue, cabinet makers wax.

It worked straight out of the box. But took it apart and gave it a sand and oil and got it running a lot smoother, without much trouble.

I got it off Ebay a couple of years back, Amazon has them to, search "shoe leather sewing machine". Price seams to have gone up dramatically, were about AUD$100, seam to be in the $200-300 range now.

@@waynepugh5789 yes true. Yours looks a little more heavier duty than what I've seen on either Amazon or Ebay thats why I asked. Thanks.

@@grumpyiwegianpodcast3505 No, its nothing special, just the standard 3 legged one's you see on them sites. Only mounted on a board instead of the tripod, so i can clamp it into my workbench vice.

@@waynepugh5789 Looks like it works really well. I'ved been thinking about getting one but wanted to hold off till i seen it in action. N ow that I have I think I will. I have an electric but I want something I can go totally off grid with anbd this would be perfect. Thanks for your feed back.

@@grumpyiwegianpodcast3505 The off grid aspect is what i got it for. Though i have it set up so i can use it with a foot pedal controlled electric motor, that hooks to it with a drive belt around the big cam wheel crank on the front if i want. There are some videos on KZbin about setting them up, there are some bits that can do with a disassemble, sand, polish, oil, straight out of the box to make them run smoother. Defiantly feels like the best value for money tool in my workshop.

I THINK YOUR SEWING WAS GOOD ON THIS PROJECT, IT TAKES ALOT TO LEARN THIS SEWING MACHINE. GOOD JOB MAN.
