After picking up some leather packs from hobby lobby, i created a bag from their stamped chrome leather for my brother to carry all of his medication in. I added veg tanned leather for the snaps to keep it closed. I appreciate the information about pulling the stiches length wise to keep it from bunching up, without it, I'd have had a bunched up opening, and the entire bag would be useless. Thank you Chuck for educating beginning leathersmiths !

Awesome video as usual, you REALLY do a great job of explaining each step (especially for us beginners). 👌👍

I made one two months ago, and my wife loves it. If I had known this was coming out, I would have waited😂😅... She and I both think it came out excellent.

great video. i love the idea of hanging the project off the edge of the table when gluing. i always end up cleaning glue off the face of my project. simple idea that is genius. and the 30 mm corner knife and 12 mm corner knife are going to be on my shopping list in the near future. they sure make it fast and clean. i am also going to start incorporating your corner into my wallets. adds a really nice touch without a lot of extra fuss. thank you for all of the great videos. they are a huge help to beginners like myself.

Nice touch adding the corner pieces. I've been wanting to do a simple notebook cover for a letter size notepad. Everything you showed in this video can be used in making that cover and the corner pieces will make it pop. Thanks Chuck!

Great project Chuck. It can be a good idea to case some of your offcuts so you can have some of the same leather to practice your stamping with.

Recently I made a similar piece as a cover for my cell phone. I used a scrap piece of 10oz skirting leather (skived the spine down to 6oz), tooled it, etc, and glued a plastic phone case in it. Works just fine.

Ah, you know when you see that project that you smack yourself in the forehead and go "Why have I not done this yet?" Here it is. I'm still using a cheap-o plastic cover that came with my checks in a box about 5 years ago. I foresee this as my next projects.

I also use a utility knife to cut my leather with the same blades, only difference I've used the same blade for the last 20 projects because I strop the blade, you'd be amazed how sharp you can keep one of those blades

So many good things in this video. I never fail to learn something from these videos. The best part for me was actually the corner accent pieces. They really make this project catch the eye. One of these days I'm going to have to invest in the corner knives. Just checked Weaver and there is no 12 mm corner knife listed. There is a 30mm and is in stock as I write this.
@WeaverLeatherSupply Жыл бұрын
We apologize, the 12 mm was unfortunately discontinued! The 15 mm would be the next closest in size.

@@WeaverLeatherSupply Thanks for responding. I do like those corner knives. They seem very handy. The nice thing is the consistency they give as compared to other methods.

Checks are still required for a few (very few) transactions. I think I've written 4 or 5 in the last 3 years😂 Or in the case of lost cards. You still need to get whatever the check is still accepted. And some people won't pay bills without their checks because they prefer to have a paper trail
