Very elegant work. I work a lot with leather and I found that if I use a 1/2 round punch instead of a full round, I can use that piece to make a keychain or something. It has the same effect but this leaves you a nice piece with 2 rounded edges. I admire your work.

Beautiful work as always. Your videos are so relaxing to watch, it’s like very “zen” and I’m not really a “zen” person. And then you add that to really great content and truly artistic craftsmanship = magic! I was so thrilled to see your Tye Died Wallet featured on Weavers webpage.I felt like “ oh my goodness, my friend just became Uber famous!”.

Did you use pricking irons to make all the small marks before punching through with the stitching chisels or did you mark them with the stitching chisels all along the outside perimeters? I always use needles to make sure my holes are aligned while gluing just for insurance.
@Corter6 жыл бұрын
I just use the chisels to mark around curves and get my spacing right first, then go back once everything is laid out and use the same chisels to punch through. Needles work well for aligning, I just kind of wing it haha!
@MountainFisher6 жыл бұрын
I can't punch through my knife sheath side with a welt, that's 3/8" thick and I have the same Weaver Diamond chisels and they aren't made for much thicker than 8 oz or 1/8 inch. Some people make the mistake of punching through too thick of leather, you need a wider spread like 3/16 and heavy duty chisels.

great work as always simple and clean design. I notice you punch the straight edges first for stitching and then the corners. Is this so you can adjust the stitches and make sure everything lines up?
@Corter6 жыл бұрын
I usually punch the straight stuff first because the only thing that really needs to "line up" is the stitching over the pockets - so I punch that first, then everything else just needs to be evenly spaced. Corners are generally where I'll adjust or catch up on spacing by varying a little bit because the difference in stitch length is less noticeable there, but you still don't want to vary too much from your stitching iron size if you can help it!

Hello! How thick is the leather that you use here, and that you usually use for making wallets and cases and etc? When I click on the link and the on the leather it shows me the thickness of 2/3 Oz but I'm not sure if that's the thickness or it's generated in the site... Thank you!

I love this, it's mesmerising 🙆, great job!! I would like to begin this craftsmanship as a hobby. How much should I work on my patterns before I begin?
@Corter6 жыл бұрын
thanks so much! I would say to start simple - two rectangles stitched on three sides make a card holder. Then add a pocket to the front once you've got that down. Don't worry too much about patterning until you've got a decent handle on your construction skill, you can start designing more intricate patterns!

How do you stitching lines/holes line up so perfectly when you're putting the 2 pieces together for stitching ?
@Corter6 жыл бұрын
I usually punch the interiors so the holes line up over the pockets where I want, then use an awl to mark where the stitch run starts on the exterior shell - takes a bit of practice but works well!
@tariqkamil78536 жыл бұрын
Practicing this now...not easy to align and even get the stitching liner exact 🤔
