This is an awesome video, very nice instructions, and good detail. I haven't actually started making leather things yet, but I am very interested in starting. What are all the tools that I would need to start with? I am interested in starting with making things like wrist cuffs, and steampunk things, along that line. There are just so many tools out there, and although I'm sure that they are all nice to have, I don't know what I really need to start with. Thank you :)

Hi Justin, I always wonder how do you cut those curve corners perfectly? with a curve punch? I always have struggle on that corners just to play safe I always have right angle corners just to make sure my work will not mess up. Thanks!
@kboleather
@kboleather 7 жыл бұрын
NEVOJ I use a coin. Depending on the curve desired the coin could be a nickel, or a quarter.

Hi, Justin. Thanks for the tutorial. Did you use same leather thickness for every layer?
@MAKESUPPLYLEATHER
@MAKESUPPLYLEATHER 8 жыл бұрын
Hi Shienna! In 99% of the cases yes I do use the same thickness for each layer. If Im stacking 3 or more layers I will often skive down the edges so it doesnt get too thick!

A wing divider will establish the punch line. Check out Tandy Leather. They have a online catalogue and a pretty good line up of videos on tools etc. Hope that helps.

Hi is bevelling done on veg tan leather only? I noticed you didn't bevel your edges here. Thank you
@MAKESUPPLYLEATHER
@MAKESUPPLYLEATHER 8 жыл бұрын
It depends. I knew I wasnt going to be burnishing these edges like a traditional veg tan so I opted not to bevel. This leather was a little soft as well so the beveling might not have cut well and looked ragged.

I purchased the Australian wallet template version which is too small. I have my stitching as far on the border as I practically can. I'm pretty disappointed as I spend about 10 hours on it.

Marking both sides for stitching holes, and marking holes by hand is a complete waste of time. Mark one side and punch the holes. Not to mention if you mark both sides and can't or don't punch with a level chisel your holes will not come out on the line you scratched in the leather on the opposite side.
