Back in the early 1970's I had a nice wide leather watch band, or cuff. It was all the rage back then! Nice to see it make a comeback. Now - with my leather juices flowing - I must make one for myself! Thanks for the memories ... and this video!

You do a wonderful job explaining so many steps to making these things. Instead of making junk stuff, you make beautiful things that we can learn from. Thank you! I was just trying to figure out buckles from cuffs, and this gave me lots of great ideas!

Love, Love, Love this!! I have been looking for a watch cuff like this for years now....not necessarily just a fashion thing either...my skin has a tendency to "eat" the back of the watch ...or it "eats" my skin...and yes, even stainless steel watch backs lol. Also, my Hubby had a beautiful leather watch strap years ago that he loved, which was very similar to this but the band slid through the cuff at the top and bottom (hard to explain) and then it had a cover that fastened with a pop stud to keep the watch face protected... I can see where this could be adapted to be similar. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you for making this video and giving me the inspiration and knowledge to recreate a much loved but now sadly long gone item. Hugs, Li xx

This style of strap looks great on watches for men they look like the milatary style strap and the 1970s retro style. Cool 👍

Very nice. I received a nice watch a few years ago, but it had a band that can only be adjusted by having a jeweler remove a few links. I have a few ideas rattling around my head now. Thanks.

I think the Automatic Seiko 5 would work perfectly for this project. The Seiko 5 Mens Automatic is less then $100 and never need battery change. I would like a solar or automatic watch for this project because a quartz watches batter would be hard to change in this configuration.

Another great video but one question. Why did you shive the buckle side of the strap? Wouldn’t a butt joint work as well since it won’t be rubbing the arm?

Really nice! Thinking of combining a few of your videos and create something cool... A wristwatch with a pocketwatch in it. E.g. form-pressed leather for the watch and mount it on a wristcuff.... Think that could be nice ?!?

Instead of making the actual leather strap for the watch yourself, you could of course also buy a ready made leather strap and just put that onto the bracer. Actual, on a nice wrist watch you often have really nice leather straps. Saves quite some time. Great idea and some nice crafting skills shown here, too!

You can if it's long enough, there may be lot of extra bulk to go round so not all straps will have enough length on them I don't think. It depends on the number of layers though, I have one I made that's a single layer that I use with my normal watch strap and that's fine.

Ian, what size pricking tool or sewing punch did you use to create your sewing holes. It looks smaller than the typical 2mm punch, which is, I believe, the smallest Tandy carries? If so, would you mind telling me where you found smaller pricking tools?

Hello, I see in the video that you use a Timex iron man watch. I recently developed an allergy to the metal and can no longer wear my Ironman watch. Would I be able to purchase your leather cuff? Please respond if possible. Thanks
